Derek Dietrich Blasts Three Homers
6 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman/outfielder Derek Dietrich had a huge game Monday with three home runs and six RBI. Dietrich now has 17 home runs on the season which gives him a new career high, on May 28th. Dietrich is mashing the ball right now with a hard contact rate over 40 percent and a fly ball percentage of 52 percent. One hot streak doesn't erase years of mediocrity from Dietrich but there's reason to believe he could be a useful fantasy asset. With Miami in 2018, Dietrich batted .290 with 12 home runs on the road compared to .239 with four homers at home. Miami is one of the worst parks for hitters and Cincinnati is one of the best. Additionally, Dietrich is currently sporting a career-high walk rate and career-low strikeout rate. Dietrich is obviously not this good, but with all his position eligibility and positive trends in his profile, it's hard to not justify adding him at this point.
