Denny Hamlin's Strong Top-5 Result At Bristol Advances Him To The Round Of 12
3 months agoIn Saturday's Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin finished fourth and had a solid points day. Starting the race from the eighth position, Hamlin kept himself in play for a great finish throughout the day. In the first stage, Hamlin ran in the Top 10 the entire time and competed for the top 5. The No. 11 Toyota driver ended the first stage in the sixth position and gained a couple of stage points. During the second stage, Hamlin moved closer to the front after navigating through cars off the lead lap and made it up to the third position by the end of the stage, collecting further stage points. In the final stage, Hamlin would run in the Top 5 the whole time and ran as high as second before Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace would pass Hamlin by the race's final green flag run. The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran settled for his 11th top-5 finish at Bristol and moved onto the Round of 12 in the playoffs. As the Cup Series next heads to Kansas, Hamlin will be one of the favorites to compete for the win as he placed in the Top 5 in each of the last six Cup events there and won at the site in May 2023.
