Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin already had a rough start to the race at Homestead when he had to start at the rear of the field. This was due to failing a pre-race inspection. Hamlin was able to make his way through the field. He finished in 12th after Stage 1 and then second after Stage 2.
