David Robertson Seals Bullpen Capitulation
7 years agoThe New York Yankees pitching had a performance to forget on Wednesday night as starter CC Sabathia was pounded for seven runs in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Fortunately for the left-hander, the offense was the complete opposite, once again a powerful force that scored 10 runs in the first five innings. The bullpen, however, failed to hold any lead handed to them, and David Robertson was at the forefront. The 33-year-old was called on in a difficult situation in the sixth and failed to preserve the lead. The big blow came with the bases loaded, as he allowed a three-run double that put his team down, 11-10. He was charged with the loss, as the Yankees moved a game and a half behind the Red Sox in the AL East.
