Defenseman Darnell Nurse inked a two-year, $11.2 million contract extension to remain with the Edmonton Oilers through the 2021-2022 season on Monday. Nurse, who was set to become a restricted free agent this summer, will carry a $5.6 million cap hit over the life of the extension. The 25-year-old has developed into a reliable top-four defenseman over the past two seasons, bringing a unique mix of offensive skill and physical play to the Oilers. Through 55 games this season, the 25-year-old is currently on a 36-point pace (24 points in 55 games) and has registered 44 penalty minutes, 130 shots and 129 hits. The 6'4, 221-pound blueliner still has room to grow offensively and could eventually develop into a top-30 fantasy defenseman in fantasy leagues that count hits. Nurse will take the ice next versus the Blackhawks on Tuesday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
