1/22:Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports that free-agent catcher Chris Gimenez has agreed to a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs. Gimenez, 35, hit .220 with seven home runs last season for the Twins. Willson Contreras has a firm grip as the Cubs starting catcher, but Gimenez should have a good chance to earn the backup spot, where he will compete against Victor Caratini. Aside from daily leagues, Gimenez holds minimum value and should be left on the waiver wire.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
