Connor Hellebuyck Getting A Rest Thursday
11 months agoWinnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will yield starting duties to backup Laurent Brossoit for Thursday's home game against the Chicago Blackhawks. It's a well-earned breather for the veteran whose 30 starts ties him for third-most in the league alongside Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky. The 2019-20 Vezina Trophy winner has made the most of his heavy usage, posting a fantastic 2.20 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage while going 21-6-3, including 11-0-2 over his last 13 outings. The American's 17.52 goals saved above average is easily the best mark in the NHL, as per Hockey Reference. He will return to the crease when the Jets host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
