Boston Red Sox left-handed pitching prospect Connelly Early struck out eight batters across six innings of one-run ball en route to picking up the victory over Double-A Somerset. Early allowed just six hits and just one free pass. Since the start of May, the southpaw has been one of the more effective pitchers at the Double-A level. During this stretch, Early has logged 30 innings ot the tune of a 2.10 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP. He has struck out 44 batters and allowed 14 walks. Through 43 2/3 total innings, the No. 9-ranked prospect in the Boston system has held a solid 2.27 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. Last season, the Virginia product struggled during his first taste of Double-A, holding a 4.50 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP.
