Clarke Schmidt Pitches Deep In No-Decision Monday
Clarke Schmidt pitched well but came away with a no-decision in Monday's 1-0 extra-inning loss to the Angels. Schmidt pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Yankees were unable to provide any support, and the game wasn't decided until the 11th inning. The 29-year-old has pitched well once again this season, going 3-3 with a 3.16 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and an 8.62 K/9 rate in 11 starts and 62 2/3 IP. Monday was his longest start of the season, and over half of his starts have been quality starts. His next scheduled start will be a middling matchup against the Orioles. Schmidt's solid performance this season makes him worth a start for fantasy managers.
