Chris Kirk Is An Unappealing Start At TPC Sawgrass
9 months agoSince his win at the Sentry, Chris Kirk hasn't played his best golf. Made putts have been hard to come by, and in a stretch that has typically been kind to the Tour journeyman in years past, it hasn't come to fruition in 2024. On paper, his 20th ranking in strokes gained off the tee (0.531) and 28th-ranked strokes-gained-on-approach (0.511) numbers are things to put in the "pros" list. However, the more important of the two is his approach play, and Kirk's metrics are slightly skewed thanks to his strong performances at both Hawaii events, where he had an average of 1.475 strokes gained on approach through the first two events, compared to the minus-0.002 over the last six events. For $9,000 on FanDuel, the risk is not worth the reward.
