Can Martin Truex Jr Finally Get a Good Finish This Weekend?
3 months agoThis is getting a little ridiculous. With his 24th-place finish at Bristol last weekend, Martin Truex Jr now has eight straight finishes of 20th or worse in Cup Series action. He hasn't had a top five finish since all the way back in May which was at, ironically, Kansas Speedway--the same track the Cup Series is racing at this weekend. The speed has been there for Truex and this No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team, but they have just hit an epic streak of bad luck lately. The good news is that this could be the weekend that they turn it around. In addition to his fourth-place run here at Kansas in May, Truex also walked away with a seventh-place finish at Las Vegas earlier this season, which is the sister track to Kansas. The No. 19 Toyota looked decently strong here in practice on Saturday, ending up 10th-fastest in 25-lap average during the session. Truex qualified 19th for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400, so he offers some decently high Place Differential upside along with a palatable salary of $9,500 on DraftKings. The only question is, do you trust him? Over the last 15 races at Kansas, Martin Truex Jr has two wins and only two finishes worse than ninth.
