Caleb Kilian To Start Against Padres
3 years agoChicago Cubs pitching prospect Caleb Kilian will be called up from the minors in order to start against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, according to skipper David Ross. It will be Kilian's second major league start after he allowed three earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out six in his MLB debut in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on June 4. The Cubs No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, could stick in the rotation this time around due to injuries to Marcus Stroman (shoulder), Wade Miley (shoulder) and Drew Smyly (oblique). In his 10 starts for Triple-A Iowa, Kilian has a solid 2.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 16 walks in 43 innings. While the 25-year-old right-hander doesn't make for a very attractive fantasy streamer against the Padres, he's worth an add in deep mixed leagues if you're struggling with rotation depth.
