Buster Posey Feels Good Physically
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey, who will turn 34 next month, said he feels good physically after focusing on improving his conditioning in the offseason after sitting out all of 2020 due to COVID-19. Manager Gabe Kapler noted that Posey appears to have bulked up over the winter, creating optimism that he can bounce back from a career-worst offensive showing in 2019. Even if he continues to slump with the bat, Posey will bring plenty of leadership to a Giants rotation that is expected to include three new starters. Posey will be the team's starting catcher, but he could still be rested often, and promising catching prospect Joey Bart is waiting in the wings. Going into the final guaranteed deal of his contract, Posey is now a low-end fantasy backstop in deep mixed leagues.
