Brandon Pfaadt To Start Game 1 For D-Backs
1 year agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Sunday that rookie right-hander Brandon Pfaadt will get the ball for Game 1 of the wild-card series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday on the road. When he's on his game, Pfaadt is one of the best young pitchers in the game, but he's been pretty inconsistent in his first major-league season in 2023, going 3-9 with a 5.72 ERA (5.18 FIP), 1.41 WHIP, 26 walks and 94 strikeouts in 96 innings in 19 appearances (18 starts) for Arizona. In his five outings (four starts) in September, he had a 4.32 ERA and gave up five home runs in 25 innings, but he also walked just four and struck out 30. Pfaadt has yet to face the Brewers and will face a big challenge on the road to kick off the postseason series.
