Baker Mayfield Says He Could Play Against Steelers
3 years agoCleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) said that playing in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a possibility. It's not a ringing endorsement for his return, but the good news is that he has been practicing this week after missing last Thursday's win over the Denver Broncos with a fully torn labrum in his left shoulder and a fractured humerus bone. Mayfield and the Browns are hoping that he can play through the injury and have surgery on his non-throwing shoulder after the season, but any further dislocations to his arm could cause more damage and a longer recovery timetable when he eventually has surgery. Mayfield will be tough to get behind as a QB2 if he plays against a strong Steelers defense, and if he can't go, backup Case Keenum would make his second straight start.
