3 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Nola (knee) said he "feels pretty close" to a return and continues to catch bullpen sessions and go through baserunning drills while using a knee brace. Nola could be sent on a rehab assignment within the next couple of days, according to manager Jayce Tingler. The Padres hope to get Nola some rehab at-bats before he catches in games again. The 31-year-old just started using his knee brace on Thursday, and he said it'll take some time to get used to. Nola only has 46 at-bats this year due to knee and hand injuries, and he was hitting only .217 (10-for-46) with one homer when he injured his knee. He'll provide some pop in two-catcher leagues when he returns to share time with Victor Caratini in the second half of the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
