The San Diego Padres activated catcher Austin Hedges from the bereavement list on Tuesday and optioned catcher Austin Allen to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Hedges returns to a weak .185/.245/.310 slash line with six home runs, 15 runs and 23 RBI, so he might split even more time with Francisco Mejia, who is the far superior offensive player for the Friars.
