2 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo could share the leadoff duties with first baseman Triston Casas versus right-handers this season. Manager Alex Cora said that duo would platoon the spot with second baseman Christian Arroyo and outfielder Kike Hernandez, who could split leadoff duties against left-handers. Cora previously mentioned that Verdugo and Hernandez could run more this season, and leading off will also help them in the run department. Casas had a .358 on-base percentage in 27 games last season, so he also makes some sense as a leadoff hitter. It sounds like there will be some fluctuation, but leadoff is always an ideal spot to hit, especially with Rafael Devers in your lineup.--Justin Raffone - RotoBaller
