Adley Rutschman Undergoes MRI Exam
Adley Rutschman (abdomen) had an MRI exam on Saturday morning, and the team will see if he needs a trip to the injured list, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. With Rutschman banged up, Maverick Handley is on the team's taxi squad. Mansolino said the team hasn't discussed catching prospect Samuel Basallo as a potential option if Rutschman misses additional time. Rutschman is out of the starting lineup in the Bronx on Sunday against the division-rival New York Yankees and could miss additional time after being scratched from Friday's series opener with abdominal tightness. Gary Sanchez is behind the plate on Saturday and is hitting seventh versus Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Basallo is considered Baltimore's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the No. 2 catching prospect in all of baseball.
