A Healthy Steven Souza Jr. Is Attracting Interest
5 years agoOutfielder Steven Souza Jr. (knee), who is running, hitting and throwing at 100 percent intensity after April surgery on his left knee, is drawing interest from the Rangers, Rays, Cubs and Giants, according to a source. The 30-year-old tore multiple ligaments in his knee in spring training for the Diamondbacks and missed the entire 2019 season. Injuries are part of the risk with Souza, but his impressive power-speed combination when he's healthy is what is attracting teams. He played in only 72 games with the D-backs in 2018 but hit 30 home runs and stole 16 bags in 148 games back in 2017 with Tampa Bay. Souza could be a sneaky waiver wire pickup or late-round flier in deeper leagues if he lands with a team that gives him regular playing time right off the bat.
