49ers Acquire Third Overall Pick From Dolphins
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers are acquiring the No. 3 overall pick in next month's draft from the Miami Dolphins on Friday in exchange for the No. 12 overall pick, a 2022 third-round pick (San Fran's compensation pick for the Robert Saleh hiring) and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, according to sources. The move is a blockbuster one that will have ramifications for both teams for years to come. The 49ers are moving up into the top-five picks, presumably to take their quarterback of the future. It's certainly not good news for incumbent Jimmy Garoppolo, who has struggled to stay healthy in his NFL career. Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is expected to go first overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. BYU's Zach Wilson, Ohio State's Justin Fields, North Dakota State's Trey Lance and Alabama's Mac Jones are the other potential first-round signal-callers.
