With the 2025-26 NFL season behind us, it's time to look back 20 years and rank the top-20 NFL teams by most wins.
Which team has been the most successful NFL franchise in the past 20 years? Has their regular-season success translated into the postseason?

No. 20 - Tennessee Titans
Record Since 2006: 150-175
Best Season: 2008 (13-3) - AFC South Champions
The Titans have enjoyed four 10-win campaigns during this stretch and captured the AFC South title three times. In 2008, they enjoyed their best season but saw their playoff run cut short as they fell to the Ravens in the Divisional Round. Later in the two decades, the Titans enjoyed another stretch of positive play with Derrick Henry leading the way. In 2020, they made the AFC Championship but fell to the Chiefs.
No. 19 - Chicago Bears
Record Since 2006: 152-173
Best Season: 2006 (13-3) - NFC North Champions
The Chicago Bears have typically fallen near the middle of the pack during this 20-year stretch. In 10 of the seasons, the Bears held a .500 record or higher. In 2006, the Bears won the NFC North title and made it to the Super Bowl, but fell to the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 29-17. Their most recent season (2025-26) was their first divisional championship since 2018.

No. 18 - Houston Texans
Record Since 2006: 156 - 168-1
Best Season: 2012 (12-4) - Lost in Divisional Round
The Texans are one of the NFL's newest teams and have enjoyed a very successful run since the mid 2010s. In 2012, the Texans picked up their second-straight NFC South title. While they have reached the Divisional Round several times since 2011, they have yet to advance to the AFC Title Game. Their 2025 season ended in a tough loss to the New England Patriots in the second round of the postseason.
No. 17 - Cincinnati Bengals
Record Since 2006: 156 - 164-4
Best Season: 2022 (12-4) - AFC North Champions
The Bengals have enjoyed two of their best seasons since they drafted Joe Burrow with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. During the 2021 season, Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl but ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Rams. The following year, Burrow led the team to its best regular-season record during this stretch (12 wins, matching 2015's total) and another AFC Championship appearance.
No. 16 - Atlanta Falcons
Record Since 2006: 161-164
Best Season: 2012 (13-3) - NFC South Title
The Falcons made the Super Bowl once during this stretch (2016-17), but their 2012 season was their best overall campaign. During this season, they ran away with the NFC South as they finished seven wins higher than the No. 2 team. They captured the top seed in the conference but eventually lost to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
No. 15 - San Francisco 49ers
Record Since 2006: 166-158-1
Best Season: 2019 (13-3) - NFC West Champions
After capturing five Super Bowls from 1982-1995, the 49ers had a rocky start to the 2000s. However, they have begun to turn the corner and have been one of the best teams since 2019. In 2019, they posted their best record during this stretch. The 49ers reached two Super Bowls during this span. Since 2019, the 49ers have won double-digit games in five of these seasons.
No. 14 - Denver Broncos
Record Since 2006: 170 - 155
Best Season: 2013 (13-3) - AFC West Champions
Peyton Manning led the Broncos to one of the best teams in regular-season history. During the 2013 campaign, Manning and the Broncos scored an incredible 606 points and averaged 37.9 PPG. However, during this season, they ultimately lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. In 2016, the Broncos returned to the Super Bowl and were able to get the job done against the 15-1 Carolina Panthers. While they tallied their most wins (14) in 2025-26, their 2013 team was one of the most dominant in league history.
No. 13 - Buffalo Bills
Record Since 2006: 171-153
Best Season: 2022 (13-3) - AFC East Champions
The Bills were on track to be one of the worst teams in the league during this 20-year stretch until Josh Allen entered the picture. Allen led the Bills to two 13-win campaigns and several AFC Championship appearances. However, he has yet to be able to win the big game. In 2022, the Bills averaged an impressive 28.4 PPG and eventually lost to the Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round. This past season, the Bills fell short in the postseason once again, losing to the Denver Broncos.
No. 12 - Minnesota Vikings
Record Since 2006: 175-148-2
Best Season: 2017 (13-3) - NFC North Champions
While their 2024 regular season (14-3) was slightly more impressive, their 2017 campaign represents this spot on the list. In 2017, the Vikings reached the NFC Title game and won the NFC North. During this season, the Vikings pulled off the improbable Minneapolis Miracle in the Divisional Round against the New Orleans Saints. However, they fell to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game the week later.
No. 11 - Los Angeles Chargers
Record Since 2006: 176-149
Best Season: 2006 (14-2) - AFC West Champions
The Los Angeles Chargers have been a reliable franchise during the regular season, but have yet to take their performance to the next step in the postseason. In 2006, the Chargers enjoyed an impressive regular season as they averaged a strong 30.8 PPG and held the top seed in the conference. However, they have yet to reach the Super Bowl since 1995. They have hit the 11-win mark in back-to-back seasons and remain top Super Bowl contenders with Jim Harbaugh leading the charge.

No. 10 - Indianapolis Colts
Record Since 2006: 182-142-1
Best Season: 2006 (12-4) - Super Bowl Champions
With their 14-win 2005 season not eligible for this list, their 2006 Super Bowl-winning squad will take the spot. With Payton Manning under center, the Colts were finally able to get it down, defeating the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI. However, they have begun to fall on this list, as they have posted only one 10+ win season since 2020.
No. 9 - Dallas Cowboys
Record Since 2006: 184-140-1
Best Season: 2007 (13-3) - NFC East Champions
The Dallas Cowboys enjoyed 11 winning seasons during this span, but were never able to return to Super Bowl glory as they did during the 1990s. In 2007, they enjoyed the first of their two 13-win seasons during this stretch (the other being 2016). The team scored two more points per game than in their other 13-win season, earning them a spot on this list. However, they did not win a playoff game during this campaign.
No. 8 - New Orleans Saints
Record Since 2006: 186-139
Best Season: 2011 (13-3) - NFC South Champions
The Saints enjoyed over a decade of success, with Drew Brees and Sean Payton leading the franchise. In 2010, the Saints won the Super Bowl, but their most impressive regular season was in 2011. During this campaign, they posted a stellar 13-3 record and averaged a high 34.2 PPG, which is the highest mark during this 20-year span. However, they may be entering their next contending stage with Tyler Shough leading the way.
No. 7 - Kansas City Chiefs
Record Since 2006: 187-138
Best Season: 2024 (15-2) - AFC West Champions
During the early part of this two-decade stretch, the Chiefs were successful but were never able to bring their team to the next level. However, once Patrick Mahomes took over starting duties, they were able to win three Super Bowls (and counting). Their best regular season was in 2024, when they held a 15-2 record led by an elite defense. However, they fell to the Eagles in the Super Bowl. In 2025, injuries limited them, and they could face an uphill battle early in 2026 with Patrick Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL.
No. 6 - Philadelphia Eagles
Record Since 2006: 188-135-2
Best Season: 2024 (14-3) - Super Bowl Champions
The Eagles captured two Super Bowls during this two-decade stretch. In 2024, the Eagles captured their second Super Bowl and enjoyed their best regular season. During this season, the Eagles captured the No. 2 seed in the NFC Conference and were led by Saquon Barkley, who ran for the second-most rushing yards in a single season.
No. 5 - Seattle Seahawks
Record Since 2006: 189-135-1
Best Season: 2025 (14-3) - Super Bowl Champions
The Seattle Seahawks were one of the most dominant teams of the 2010s. They made two Super Bowls (back-to-back), but won the big game in 2013. During this season, the Seahawks held the top seed in the conference and dominated the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl, defeating them 43-8. However, they turned in their most dominant season of this 20-year stretch in 2025, posting an elite 14-3 record en route to claiming the NFC West Title and the Lombardi Trophy.
No. 4 - Baltimore Ravens
Record Since 2006: 198-127
Best Season: 2019 (14-2) - AFC North Title
The Baltimore Ravens won one Super Bowl during this stretch (2013) and enjoyed 12 double-digit winning seasons. However, most of their regular-season success has come at the hands of Lamar Jackson. In 2019, Jackson enjoyed his breakout campaign, leading the team to an impressive 14-2 record while scoring 33.2 PPG. This past season (2025-26), the Ravens had their first losing season since 2021 and were unable to find much success as Jackson missed nearly half the season.

No. 3 - Pittsburgh Steelers
Record Since 2006: 201-122-2
Best Season: 2017 (13-3) - AFC North Champions
The Steelers have been the definition of consistency during this two-decade stretch. The Steelers never had a losing record during this span and enjoyed 15 winning records. They also won two Super Bowls (2006 and 2009) during this 20-year period. In 2017, the team had their best regular-season record but fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the playoffs.
No. 2 - Green Bay Packers
Record Since 2006: 203-119-3
Best Season: 2011 (15-1) - NFC North Champions
The Green Bay Packers have had elite QB play during this entire tenure. Brett Favre played during the opening years of these 20 years, while Aaron Rodgers was at the helm for the majority of this time. Recently, Jordan Love has taken over QB1 duties and brought them to three playoff appearances (in three-straight seasons). In 2011, Rodgers led the team to their best 15-1 record en route to winning an MVP (averaged 35.0 PPG).
No. 1 - New England Patriots
Record Since 2006: 221-104
Best Season: 2007 (16-0) - AFC East Champions
The New England Patriots hold the top spot on this list by 15 wins over the Steelers. Led by Tom Brady, he never held a losing record while serving as the QB1 and posted 16 10-win seasons. However, their best regular season was not even one of the Super Bowl campaigns. During this season, the Patriots lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl but held a perfect 16-0 record and averaged an incredible 36.8 PPG during the regular season.
Following brief skids in 2023 and 2024, Drake Maye led them back to the Super Bowl this past season, posting a 14-3 record.
