Kareem Hunt fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 5 (2024). Should you start or sit Kareem Hunt for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3/FLEX
ANALYSIS: New Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt seemed to get a lot closer to the starting job in Week 4 after rookie RB Carson Steele fumbled the ball for the second time in two games. Hunt took over for Steele after the gaffe, rushing 14 times for 69 yards and catching two passes for 16 yards.

I’d roll with Hunt/Perine.

Hunt's effectiveness in the passing game should make him a valuable asset for the Chiefs. Whether that leads to big usage is questionable, but Hunt had 16 touches last game, and that's great usage. Fellow RB Samaje Perine hasn't been used much except for on passing downs, but he did vulture a touchdown last week.
Hunt is worth starting because he'll probably be the early-down back and has some effectiveness in the passing game. Whether he gets the goal-line work isn't known yet, and Perine could also take away third-down touches, but if Hunt gets anywhere near 16 touches per game for the Chiefs he is worth starting.
He's a solid RB3/FLEX play this week with upside for more. The Chiefs will face the New Orleans Saints, who have a tough run defense, but the Chiefs have a great offensive line, so they match up well.
