Juwan Johnson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for tight ends. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 31% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After posting a monster stat line in Week 15, Juwan Johnson fell flat in a Christmas Eve clash with the Cleveland Browns. The Saints' TE reeled in just one catch for nine yards against the Browns in Week 16.
Johnson wasn't done any favors by the blustery weather conditions in Cleveland on Saturday. A winter storm forced both teams to take a run-heavy approach and New Orleans only attempted 15 passes on the day, two of which went to Johnson.
Despite his underwhelming performance in Week 16, Johnson remains on the fantasy radar simply because of the lack of viable options at the always-tough TE position. His third season as a pro has by far been his best, as Johnson has posted career highs in receptions (36), receiving yards (425), and TDs (seven) in 2022.
The 26-year-old currently stands as the overall fantasy TE7 in standard-scoring leagues which speaks to the overall weakness of the position this year.
Johnson draws a difficult matchup against the rugged Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. Philly has relinquished just three TDs to opposing TEs this season and has allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points in the NFL to the position.
Fantasy managers that are in their league's finals this week might want to target an easier matchup, but those that are desperate for help at the TE spot can give Johnson a look, due to his emergence as a legitimate red-zone threat for the New Orleans passing attack.
