BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 15% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Jimmy G has been known as a solid and reliable game manager throughout most of his NFL career, someone who can win a lot of games if you have elite pieces surrounding him. That was definitely the case in San Francisco, but now that he's in a new situation, he has been forced to adapt.
In San Fran, Jimmy G had no reason to force throws or throw the ball downfield. Last season, before he got hurt, Garoppolo averaged just 6.9 intended yards per attempt and just 3.2 air yards per completion. The reason for his success was the YAC (yards after catch) that his players would generate.

In 2022, San Fran's players averaged 7.0 YAC while playing with Garoppolo. He also never had a superstar wideout to force throws to. Things have changed drastically in Las Vegas, as he has fully embraced a gunslinger attitude.
With his players generating just 3.3 YAC and with superstar WR Davante Adams being the main playmaker on this squad, Garoppolo has averaged 8.5 intended yards per pass attempt, a big increase over last season. This new attitude has resulted in him throwing more picks in three games (six) than he did all of last season (four).
But remember, this is fantasy football, and gunslingers are rewarded. In 2019, Jameis Winston was one of the best fantasy QBs that year. While Jimmy G will never sink to those levels, his playstyle has changed, and he's still a very solid fantasy option, finishing as Week 3's 11th-best QB. He is currently in concussion protocol and might miss a game, but he remains a good option for those who are seeing diminishing returns from their drafted QBs.
