BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 46% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I don't have an explanation for Jameis Winston's "low" rostership. Yes, he's nearing a fifty-fifty proposition, but that's still low to my eyes. Winston, as wild as he's been career-wise and as much criticism as he's endured, has always performed for his fantasy GMs and truthers. So much so, that barring his injury-ridden 2020 and 2021 seasons he's finished as a top-21 player in PPR leagues for all of his pro years.
Winston could very well be on his way to another top-12, top-24-at-worst finish when all is said and done next January. It is what should happen if he doesn't miss more than one or two games and keeps up his Week 1 pace: 21.7 FP to the tune of 23 completions on 34 throws for 269 yards and 2 TDs... against (haters don't read this) no interceptions!
Jokes aside, Winston was a very efficient passer and while his completion rate wasn't incredible (67.6%) it still was a top-10 mark through Sunday's games and the fourth-best among QBs with 34+ attempts this week pending MNF. Winston was also one of only seven quarterbacks to throw 2+ touchdowns against no interceptions at all.
All of the above makes sense considering the Saints bolstered receiving corps. Michael Thomas came back at last and grabbed five passes including two for touchdowns. Landry was ridiculous with a 114-yard outing in just seven receptions. Even TE Juwan Johnson is worth a look after his 43-yard game on just two receptions.
Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram rushed the ball 13 combined times and that will definitely change in their favor going forward, with more balanced approaches hurting Winston's total chances a bit. Even then, though, Winston is a must-have player whose current below-50% rostership makes me sad inside. Go get this man if you don't have a bonafide option at the position, no matter the league you manage in.
