BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB1
ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been a fantasy star after being a popular early-round fantasy football draft pick this season. The first-round rookie is the RB15 for the year, averaging 15 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 109 rushing attempts for 566 yards and five touchdowns. Furthermore, Gibbs has 41 receptions for 278 receiving yards this season.
More importantly, the former Alabama star has been outstanding since returning from a hamstring injury. In the five contests since returning from the injury, Gibbs has averaged 77.4 rushing yards, one touchdown, and 20.6 fantasy points per game, scoring at least 18.5 in all but one matchup.
Last week, he had only 9.3 fantasy points in the loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving. However, Gibbs should bounce back tomorrow against the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints have held running backs to 16.6 fantasy points per game this season, slightly below the league average. However, their run defense has struggled lately. They have given up over 100 rushing yards or a touchdown to running backs in five of their past six games. Furthermore, New Orleans surrendered 198 rushing yards and 37.6 fantasy points to the Atlanta Falcons backfield last week.
