Mike Evans Injury Update

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that wide receiver Mike Evans (groin) will definitely be ready to play in Week 1 of the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings. Evans didn't play in the team's preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday due to a groin injury he's been dealing with, but it looks like the Bucs are just being cautious with their star receiver.

If it had been a regular season game, the 30-year-old would have suited up. Still, this is something to watch for the four-time Pro Bowler as he kicks off a new season, going from future Hall of Famer Tom Brady under center to Baker Mayfield. Evans will still be Tampa's top target, but most folks are expecting a significant drop in production with Mayfield leading Tampa's offense in 2023.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Injury Update

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) is expected to begin the regular season on the active roster. Smith-Njigba recently underwent wrist surgery to repair a small broken bone in his wrist, but avoiding the Injured Reserve list is a good sign.

His Week 1 availability against the Los Angeles Rams is still in question. Hopefully, missing one or two games is his worst-case scenario and he can make his NFL debut sooner than later. Treylon Burks Injury Update

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (knee) suffered an LCL injury on August 16 but is returning to practice on Monday. Returning just under two weeks from the injury is a good sign for Burks, whose Week 1 availability against the New Orleans Saints has been in question. While his return to practice doesn't guarantee he'll play in Week 1, it is a promising development.

The 2022 first-round pick saw his fantasy outlook take a hit with the arrival of DeAndre Hopkins, but a more effective overall offense could help his efficiency and keep him on the fantasy radar.

Kadarius Toney Injury Update

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (knee) could return to practice in "about a week," according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic. Injuries have been an issue over Toney's first two seasons in the league, holding him out of 15 contests.

It looks like he might at least be active for Week 1, but his role remains unclear given the fact that he has missed valuable time on the practice field while players like Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross, and Rashee Rice have carved out roles. Fantasy managers should consider Toney a late-round flier and will need to be patient if he requires extra time to acclimate post-injury.

Wan'Dale Robinson Injury Update

New York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson will be removed from the PUP list Tuesday. That means he will be on the active roster when the season begins. The second-year player missed training camp while recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in November.

The slot receiver tallied 23 catches for 227 in six games in 2022. Over his final two seasons (25 games) with the Chiefs, Hardman amassed 84 catches, 990 yards, and six touchdowns. Assuming Hardman is able to play in Week 1, he'll likely do so as the No. 3 receiver behind Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. Consider him a modest streaming option in the WR5 or WR6 range.

Marquise Goodwin Injury Update

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (illness) was removed from the NFI list and will begin practicing with the team. The 32-year-old had a promising start to the offseason. However, he began to experience discomfort in his legs and shortness of breath before he was eventually diagnosed with blood clots.

The 2013 third-round pick appeared in 13 games with the Seattle Seahawks last season, catching 27 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns. While Goodwin's best days are probably behind him, he may have a few potent performances throughout the 2023-24 campaign.
