Aaron Rodgers Injury Update

An MRI exam confirmed what the New York Jets feared on Monday night: that four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles in the win over the Buffalo Bills, according to sources. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer tore his Achilles on the first offensive series of the night and will now miss the entire 2023 season. Even though the Jets rallied to beat Buffalo in overtime to close out Week 1, it's a crushing blow to the Jets the rest of the way.

Former first-rounder Zach Wilson, who has struggled so far in his NFL career, will now be the starter under center the rest of the way. It will be a big downgrade for New York's offensive skill players like receivers Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, especially when you consider the Jets' suspect offensive line.

Diontae Johnson Injury Update

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined "a few weeks" with the right-hamstring injury that he suffered in the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, according to a source. If the Steelers put Johnson on Injured Reserve, he'd be forced to miss at least the next four games.

The 27-year-old needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues, as he'll be one of the team's top receiving targets when healthy. The biggest beneficiary will likely be George Pickens, but Allen Robinson II and tight end Pat Freiermuth should also benefit from more targets coming their way, starting next Monday night in a matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Kenneth Gainwell Injury Update

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (rib) is dealing with a rib injury and remains a wait and see for the team's Week 2 game on Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Gainwell was listed as a non-participant on the team's estimated injury report on Monday, so his status is one to keep an eye on this week, especially after he served as the leader of the team's backfield in their Week 1 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday.

If the 24-year-old is unable to play on Thursday or is limited in any way, D'Andre Swift, Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny, who was a healthy scratch in the season opener, would form some sort of three-man committee backfield for Philly.

Greg Dulich Injury Update

Denver Broncos tight end Greg Dulcich (hamstring) is expected to be out multiple weeks after injuring the same hamstring in the Week 1 loss to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday that caused him to miss the team's first five games in 2022 and then the last two games at the end of the season as well, according to a source. The Broncos plan to take it slow with the second-year tight end.

If the 23-year-old goes on Injured Reserve, he'd be required to miss at least four games. In standard-sized fantasy leagues, managers shouldn't feel the need to hang onto Dulcich if they don't have the room early in the year. While Dulcich is out, Adam Trautman, who caught all five of his targets in the season opener, will take on a bigger pass-catching role as the team's No. 1 tight end.
