FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers And Advice for 4/20/15

The lineup options are not the most robust today with a nine game slate. Vegas is, however, expecting a few of them to be of the high scoring variety, which should make for solid stacking options. Remember that it's Marathon Monday in Boston, meaning the Orioles - Red Sox game kicks off at 11:05 eastern time. I'm going to avoid that game, though, as the weather forecast is pretty bleak for Boston.

 

Stacking Offenses to Target for FanDuel DFS

San Diego Padres

The Padres have shown us they're a threat to score some runs each time out this season. Their 54 runs scored are 9th most in the majors. Tonight, they've got a date with left-hander Jorge De La Rosa in DFS paradise, Coors Field. Oh, and the Padres just so happen to be eating left-handed pitchers, sporting the highest average - .330 - against southpaws in the majors this season. I'm targeting Matt Kemp and Justin Upton for a stack, as they both have strong numbers in their past against De La Rosa. Two sleepers I like are Jedd Gyorko (great numbers against De La Rosa) and Will Middlebrooks, who is stroking it right now and handles lefties well.

Kansas City Royals

This lefty-heavy Royals lineup has the highest batting average in the majors this season against right-handed pitching, hitting .322 in 233 at-bats. They just so happen to be facing Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson tomorrow, who, unfortunately for him, doesn't keep a lot of runs from scoring and doesn't quite possess strikeout stuff at the major league level. This bodes well for the Royals, and I'm looking to stack Mike Moustakas (.500 average in 10 at-bats against Gibson) and Eric Hosmer. I'd also take an extra look at Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar (Day-to-Day with knee injury) as Escobar has five hits in 11 at-bats against Gibson.

 

DFS Catchers To Consider for FanDuel

James McCann - C - Tigers ($2,200)

This one I like only for tournament play, because it comes with some risk. McCann has the potential to return a lot of value playing in this lineup should he get the start, and he normally does against left-handed pitching. Tonight, they square off against CC Sabathia and his decreased velocity. He's worth a look, especially if you're "punting" this position.

Nick Hundley - C - Padres ($3,300)

Hundley has the handedness matchup going for him, and he also happens to hit behind a lot of guys with strong numbers for their careers against Rockies starter De La Rosa. Hitting at Coors Field and coming in a shade cheaper than the elite catchers on the board doesn't hurt, either.

 

DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel

Miguel Cabrera - 1B - Tigers ($5,000)

Okay, so it's a steep price. Honestly, if anyone is worth it, though, its Cabrera facing left-handed pitching. Not only does he have great numbers against Sabathia for his career (.345 batting average and two home runs), but Sabathia isn't the same as he once was. His velocity is down, and I expect Miggy to eat well today.

Mark Teixeira - 1B - Yankees ($3,600)

Like his first base counterpart in today's matchup, Teix has strong career numbers against the opposing pitcher, Alfredo Simon. Fourteen bats isn't a ton of data to base a decision off of, but six hits and a .714 slugging percentage is too much to ignore.

Jedd Gyorko - 2B - Padres ($2,700)

Really, really love the upside and potential value for Gyorko in this spot. He's cheap, playing at Coors Field, and has a .667 average against De La Rosa lifetime in 15 at-bats. A lot of Padres have hit De La Rosa hard, and Vegas expects this one to be a high run scoring affair.

Jose Altuve - 2B - Astros ($4,100)

Altuve is the highest price second baseman on the board today, and for good reason. He'll man the leadoff spot and face off against Iwakuma, who has been below-average at best so far this season. In 25 career at-bats, Altuve has 10 hits off Iwakuma - including three for extra bases.

Mike Moustakas - 3B - Royals ($3,100)

As I mentioned earlier, Moustakas has solid career numbers against opposing pitcher Kyle Gibson, and I expect RBI and run scoring chances as I think we'll see the Royals get through the order quite a few times today. Six third baseman are priced higher than Mouse today, though I don't think we'll see many with a better return on investment than with him.

Kyle Seager - 3B - Mariners ($3,500)

Seager gets the "I'm swinging a hot bat and have the favorable handedness matchup" nod for today. The entire lineup in Seattle seems to be putting it together, too, after a slow start.

Will Middlebrooks - 3B - Padres ($3,000)

This one is mostly a hunch play. He does have a nice price point and is playing at Coors Field, too. Always has home run potential, so I like this play for tournaments.

Starlin Castro - SS - Cubs ($3,700)

The second highest priced SS, but WELL below Tulo's $5,300 price tag. Castro (as do a lot of his Cubs teammates) hits opposing starter AJ Burnett very well. He owns a .448 (!) lifetime batting average in this match-up in 29 at-bats.

Jose Iglesias - SS - Tigers ($2,900)

Definitely one of my favorite tournament plays for the day, Iglesias can be had on the cheap and has hit safely five times in 11 at-bats against CC. I'm expecting the Tigers to do what they normally do against lefties, so Iglesias may see added RBI opportunities, even at the end of the lineup.

 

DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel

Michael Bourn - OF - Indians ($2,500)

A great price point for a speedster hitting at the top of an Indians lineup that hits opposing starter John Danks well. I like Bourn's run scoring and base stealing chances in this one, which Vegas potentially sees as high scoring (O/U 9).

Matt Kemp - OF - Padres ($4,300)

I've given the rundown on why I like Kemp and the Padres a lot today, so I'll spare you the details here. Just make sure he's in your lineup.

Justin Upton - OF - Padres ($4,600)

See above.

Lorenzo Cain - OF - Royals ($4,000)

Cain and his Royals teammates are firing on all cylinders offensively right now, and they've got a favorable match-up today to pair with it.

Nelson Cruz - OF - Mariners ($4,700)

No one in the game is showcasing a power stroke quite like Cruz's right now.

J.D. Martinez - OF - Tigers ($4,000)

Martinez possesses deep fly potential today against CC. Definitely worth your consideration when selecting your outfielders.

 

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel

Edinson Volquez - SP - Royals ($9,000)

Volquez gets to face off against the lowly Twins matchup. He's got the benefit of pitching at home in Kansas City and I really like his chances to pull off a win today with all the run support he should receive.

Wily Peralta - SP - Brewers ($7,200)

This one may just be a tournament type play, but his success against current Reds hitters is just too much to ignore. He's held that lineup to just a .218 batting average for his career, with 21 strikeouts.
