NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/18/23
We have finally made it! The 2023-2024 season is upon us and we welcome the next generational talent, Connor Bedard, to the front and center! With many big moves over the offseason -- Karlsson to Pittsburgh -- and many signings during free agency, this season will make for yet another interesting race to Lord Stanley!
Tonight, we have a nine-game slate and one team playing on a back-to-back, Winnipeg. The currently live top-three-highest implied team totals are: Boston with 4.1, Los Angeles with 3.9, and Vancouver with 3.7. I will do my best to guide you through this nine-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 PM EDT.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks
Tristan Jarry - DK $7.1K || FD $7.5K
Opponent - Carolina Hurricanes
Although Jarry and the Penguins did very little in the 5-2 loss to New Jersey to convince anyone that Jarry is a viable option against the Hurricanes, he will still be highlighted here. The netminder has posted a Save Percentage of 0.900 or higher in four of his last five starts and in that time he has also recorded two shutouts. The reason all of this matters is that Carolina is the second-best in Shots For Per 60 but sits in the bottom half in Goals For Per 60. This provides Jarry with one of the best possible floors at the goalie position tonight.

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks
Adam Lowry - DK $3.5K || FD $4.5K
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
Over the last five games, Lowry has two assists, four shots, and four blocked shots. The shots more than anything else are a bit concerning, considering how many Scoring Chances For Per 60 Lowry and the third line are generating. However, he will yet again have a premium matchup against the third line and third pairing of the Arizona Coyotes. With plenty of spots to pay up at, this is an optimal value play in a great matchup.
Phillip Danault - DK $4.2K || FD $5.3K
Opponent - St. Louis Blues
The Kings have done some lineup shuffling as of late and it resulted in Phillip Danault making his way back to the second line. With the recent injury to teammate Pierre-Luc Dubois, Danault’s stay on the second line could last longer than previously expected. In two games since the promotion, he has one assist, five shots, and one blocked shot. In the five games before that, the center had two goals, one assist, 16 shots, and four blocked shots. The Blues were just trounced on in San Jose and despite teammate Anze Kopitar having the better line matchup, Danault’s value alone makes him well worth a speculation play.

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks
Conor Garland - DK $3.5K || FD $4K
Opponent - Seattle Kraken
It is unknown if teammate Andrei Kuzmenko will return to the lineup to face the Kraken or not. If he does not, Conor Garland will see more time on the featured first line of the Canucks. He has also been seeing the top power-play with Kuzmenko out. In the one game thus far, Garland had two shots. With many trade rumors swirling around the speedy winger, this is the perfect opportunity for not only the Canucks to showcase his talents, but also for Garland to make a statement to his next hockey club. Keep in mind that Seattle has conceded three or more goals in their last seven games.
Brad Marchand - DK $6.6K || FD $8.3K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
After holding Vegas for the majority of the game, Montreal self-imploded in a big way and they play as formidable of an offense in this meeting with the Bruins. Brad Marchand is flying under the Pastrnak Radar with two goals, four assists, 21 shots, and five blocked shots in his last five games and he is barely above $6K in salary on DraftKings. This kind of production from a winger is unheard of for this salary, especially in a prime matchup such as this.

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks
Drew Doughty - DK $4.6K || FD $5.2K
Opponent - St. Louis Blues
Doughty finishes off the Los Angeles Kings stack. The veteran is a far cry away from what he once was; however, he still can provide a spark of offense any given night. Especially against a giving defense. Throughout his last five games, he has one assist, 12 shots, and nine blocked shots. The Blues are the fourth-worst in Shots Against Per 60, the fifth-worst in Scoring Chances Against Per 60, and the third-worst in High Danger Chances Against Per 60. They have also conceded five or more goals in two of their last five games.
Brett Pesce - DK $3.6K || FD $4.2K
Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins
Pesce was out for an extended absence and he did not blink an eye since returning. After missing a month, Pesce has played three games since returning and in those three games, he has four shots and six blocked shots. In a fast-paced matchup against one of the top offenses in the league, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pesce will have every opportunity to make value.
