DraftKings DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers, and Advice for 8/09/15

As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data. Here's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Sunday, August 9th.

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Detroit Tigers RHB vs Henry Owens

As right-handed batters, the Detroit Tigers hold the third best offense in the league against left-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 126. J. D. Martinez and Ian Kinsler should be very good picks at home against opposing pitcher Henry Owens. Owens looked decent in his first major league appearance against the Yankees, but the Tigers will likely present more trouble.

New York Yankees LHB vs Marco Estrada

The left-handed bats in the New York Yankees lineup should be in an excellent position to produce at home against opposing pitcher Marco Estrada. As lefties, the Yankees hold a top ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 111. Marco Estrada has been up and down, and his low strikeout rate may spell trouble against the pinstripe power bats. Mark Teixeira should be a nice value pick while Jacoby Ellsbury looks to provide sneaky value in the outfield.

 

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Chris Archer (SP, TB) - $12300

Chris Archer looks to provide the most value as your primary starting pitcher. Archer has had four great outings in a row and should be able to dominate this weak New York Mets lineup. Archer’s value remains sky high due to his nice strikeout rate. The Mets hold a bottom ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 90.

Danny Duffy (SP, KC) - $5600

Danny Duffy should be your go-to bargain bin pitcher if you invested heavily into your primary starting pitcher. Duffy has been surprisingly consistent this summer, with five quality starts in his last six outings. He should have a nice matchup on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, who hold the second worst offense in the league against left-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 70.

 

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Salvador Perez (C, KC) - $3000

Salvador Perez continues to be overlooked as a decent catching option. Perez comes at an extremely cheap price at home on Sunday. While he has struggled to put up production against left-handed pitching this year, Perez has dominated his lifetime matchup against opposing pitcher Jose Quintana. Perez is a career 14 for 38 with two home runs against Quintana.

Adam Lind (1B, MIL) - $4000

Adam Lind’s investment price is a little higher than it should be at this point in the season. However, Lind’s matchup is just too much to pass up on Sunday. Lind will face opposing pitcher John Lackey at home. On the year, Lind holds an awesome .387 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Lind is also a career 16 for 35 against Lackey.

Ian Kinsler (2B, DET) - $4300

Since the All Star Break, Ian Kinsler has clearly reestablished his reputation as one of the best offensive second baseman in the league. However, his investment price still hasn’t done much to reflect this output. Ian Kinsler will face opposing pitcher Henry Owens at home. Continue to roll with Kinsler, who holds a .333 wOBA against left-handed pitching on the year.

Kyle Seager (3B, SEA) - $4000

Kyle Seager is a must-start on Sunday. Seager will face opposing pitcher Colby Lewis at home. He holds a wOBA of .319 against right-handed pitching on the year and has shown very consistent offensive production since the All Star Break. Seager has dominated his career matchup against Lewis, going 10 for 23 with two home runs.

Asdrubal Cabrera (SS, TB) - $3300

Asdrubal Cabrera makes for a great sleeper pick at home on Sunday. Cabrera has been hitting extremely well since returning to action. Since July 28, Cabrera is hitting .500 with two home runs. Cabrera is dramatically turning his year around and returning to fantasy relevance. He should be a great sleeper option if you’d like to roll with the hot bat against the wildly inconsistent Bartolo Colon.

 

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $5200

When he is hot, Nelson Cruz looks to be unstoppable at the plate. Cruz has hit 11 home runs since the All Star Break, while going .378 during that span. Cruz will face opposing pitcher Colby Lewis at home on Sunday. On the year, Cruz holds a wOBA of .395 against right-handed pitching. Cruz looks to still be affordable at his current investment price, so jump on the bandwagon if you haven’t already.

Lorenzo Cain (OF, KC) - $4600

Lorenzo Cain makes for a very safe pick as your secondary outfielder on Sunday. Cain has hit left-handed pitching extremely well this year, with a wOBA of .439. With this in mind, look to put Cain into your lineup against opposing pitcher Jose Quintana at home. Cain is also a career 15 for 40 against the southpaw.

Austin Jackson (OF, SEA) - $3400

Austin Jackson should provide plenty of value against opposing pitcher Colby Lewis at home. Jackson has regained some consistency since the All Star Break and looks to be a cheap offensive option for both power and speed. Jackson is a career 13 for 31 with one home run against Colby Lewis. Jackson should have some nice RBI opportunities on Sunday as Lewis looks to have his hands full against the Mariners lineup.
