NBA DFS Risers/Fallers for Week 7

Harris analyzes Week 7 NBA DFS risers and fallers for DraftKings. Daily fantasy basketball sleepers, fades & values based on DFS price fluctuations.

We're more than a month into the 2017-'18 season, and we should have a clear idea of the kind of year each player is having. That said, daily fantasy salaries still fluctuate on a regular basis for various reasons, and it's important for DFS owners to monitor these changes and take advantage of the best value plays.

Here are three players whose current salaries outweigh their production, and three others who have become too cheap to ignore.

Let's take a look.

DFS Value Risers - Week 7

Eric Gordon (SG, HOU)

In his second year with the Rockets, Gordon is averaging 19.7 points -- his highest since 2011-’12 -- with 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists. The 28-year-old is shooting a career-low 39.4 percent from the floor, so his scoring totals could actually increase if and when that percentage levels off toward his career average. He is capable of knocking down threes in bunches, and has put up at least 20 points in 11 of his 18 games played. While his production has dipped a bit since Chris Paul returned, his price has dipped even more heavily. Around just $5k, Gordon is worth a flier in tournament play most nights.

Kristaps Porzingis (PF/C, NYK)

Porzingis has emerged as one of the league’s young superstars in his third NBA season. The 22-year-old is posting a monstrous 27.0 points per game with 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 points, knocking down three pointers at better than a 40 percent clip. He is currently the cheapest he has been in over a month, and possesses the ability to explode on any given night. With 40 Draftkings points in 12 of his 18 games played, Porzingis is a reliable cash-game option with endless tournament upside.

Willie Cauley-Stein (PF/C, SAC)

Cauley-Stein has made significant strides in his third year in the league, collecting 25.4 minutes per night with 10.6 points on 50 percent shooting and 6.1 rebounds. Across his last three games, the 24-year-old has totaled 54 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, five blocks and five steals. While his Draftkings salary has increased over that span, it remains at a reasonable spot right around $5k. Unless that number shoots up close to $6k, Cauley-Stein will remain an appealing option.

DFS Value Fallers - Week 7

Kris Dunn (PG/SG, CHI)

Dunn has gotten his first taste of full-time NBA action in his first season with the Bulls, garnering over 26 minutes per contest over the first six weeks. The 23-year-old is averaging 10.6 points on 39.4 percent shooting with 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals. He has scored in double figures nine times this season, but hasn’t hit 30 Draftkings points in any of his last four games, knocking down just 11 of his 40 field goal attempts over that span. Dunn’s DFS value is very limited at his current salary, which sits above $6k.

Dion Waiters (SG/SF, MIA)

Waiters has established himself as a legitimate scoring threat since joining the Heat last season. This year, the 25-year-old has mustered 15.4 points per game on 40.1 percent from the floor, adding on 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. However, he is prone to stretches of cold shooting -- 0-for-10 vs. Indiana on Nov. 19, 2-for-10 vs. Chicago on Nov. 26 -- and doesn’t do enough in other areas to make up for it. He’s reached 30 DK points just twice in his last 10 games, yet continues to rise above $6k. Waiters is best left alone for the time being.

Taj Gibson (PF/C, MIN)

Gibson is averaging 10.6 points on a career-high 54.1 percent shooting in his first year with the Timberwolves, with 8.1 rebounds (also a career high) and 1.5 assists. In the last week, the 32-year-old mustered two monster games in which he eclipsed 40 fantasy points, but those are the only two times he’s done that all season. As a result of these performances, he now sits at his most expensive mark of the year, closing in on $6k. Gibson is a solid contributor, but his upside is not great enough to warrant any consideration at this price.
