BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 31% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It is still early (very early, probably) to come up with a definitive conclusion about who's who in the Ravens offense. Devin Duvernay, if only for the lack of other viable options, seems to have found a role as the WR2 of Baltimore's attack in the baby season and he made the most of his chances against the Jets on Sunday.
Regression is coming, mind you. Duvernay was the only WR to score two touchdowns last weekend while getting fewer than five targets (Jahan Dotson) and he scored 6.0 more fantasy points than the next-best WR with four or fewer targets (DeAndre Carter). All of that said, you have to strike while the iron is hot.
Duvernay went a perfect 4-for-4 in his season-debut game reaching 54 yards but doing what he is tasked to do: scoring hella points. Thus, the two touchdowns on the day and the highest fantasy tally by a Ravens player even above that of QB Lamar Jackson (21.2 FP to Duvernay's 21.4).
I started this post saying that it is still early to know if this is the Duvernay that we can/should expect or not. The truth is that he "only" featured on 29 snaps of the team's total 56 offensive plays. That's barely above 50%, so we'll see how that develops in future weeks. Rashod Bateman appeared in 37, and even Demarcus Robinson was already close to Duvernay playing 25 snaps as the WR3 in terms of his usage.
Don't chase Duvernay too crazily, but definitely give him a shot while 1) the backfield is still hurt with players recovering from injury and rounding into full availability and shape, and 2) Duvernay retains the WR2 role ahead of Robinson--if that changes, forget about Duvernay as Baltimore uses 21 personnel most often so he'll be an afterthought in almost-never-deployed three-WR sets.
