BALLER MOVE: Start in 1QB Leagues, Start in Superflex Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB2
ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has never been a fantasy football superstar. The quarterback has been a solid QB2 for fantasy players in superflex leagues. Carr is the QB18 for the year, averaging 13.2 fantasy points per game.
Last week, the former Fresno State star had a strong performance against the Los Angeles Rams. He completed 67.5% of his pass attempts for 319 yards, three touchdowns, and 25 fantasy points, a season-high. Carr has been playing well lately, totaling three passing touchdowns and over 20 fantasy points in back-to-back weeks.
The one area where the veteran quarterback has struggled this season is pressure in his face. Carr has suffered multiple injuries, including a pair of concussions. Unfortunately, he lost his best offensive lineman for the rest of the year. New Orleans placed starting right tackle Ryan Ramczyk on injured reserve earlier today.
Tomorrow, Carr has a fantasy-friendly matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NFC South division leaders have surrendered 18.3 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, the eighth-most in the NFL. Fantasy players should avoid starting Carr in 1QB leagues but view him as a solid QB2 in superflex leagues.
