BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 3% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Was last Sunday a mirage? Was it a flukey performance from Browns TE2 David Njoku? Hmm... could be the case, but let's keep calm and assess the situation here for a minute. Njoku, whose Week 5 performance went for more PPR points than his prior four combined was definitely out of the norm, but there were signs to believe this thing could keep going as we get into the Bye-week portion of the regular season.
Njoku's W5 explosion took place on a day in which he really didn't do anything out of the blue other than getting a season-high 7 targets. Other than that, he still played just 64% of the offensive snaps (he has not topped a 67% snap share all season long) and it is not that Cleveland was missing all of its starting receivers, either. The key, though, was the absolute underusage of Austin Hooper in the passing game, as he got zero targets even though he out-snapped Njoku last Sunday (72% snap share).
Hooper has had back-to-back duds in the past two weeks while Njoku's role has grown a bit. Njoku, coming off a TE1 week good for a 7-for-7 receiving line including 149 and his first touchdown of the year has proved to have a much higher ceiling than Hooper if trusted. The other time Mayfield trusted his tight end for more than three targets, in Week 1, Njoku helped him with 3 receptions for 76 yards and another top-12 finish. Definitely not your weekly starter in most leagues because of the low usage/shaky production but one to add in deeper leagues just in case the targets keep coming his way in bunches as was the case last Sunday.
