ANALYSIS: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott started the year slowly, averaging one passing touchdown and 14 fantasy points per game before the team’s Week 7. However, the quarterback has been on fire since the slow start. He has thrown two or more touchdowns in eight of the past nine games, averaging 23.7 fantasy points per contest.
Prescott is one of the top candidates to win the NFL MVP award. He has led the Cowboys to one of the best records in the league. The veteran has also played his way into a massive new contract this offseason.
Last week, the former Mississippi State star had 253 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 18.6 fantasy points in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. While those numbers are solid, fantasy players should have higher expectations for Week 17.
The quarterback faces the Detroit Lions in a prime-time matchup on Saturday night. Detroit has won the division title for the first time since 1993. They are NFC North division champions for the first time ever. However, their defense has struggled, surrendering 18.4 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, the seventh-most in the NFL.
Fantasy players should consider Prescott and plug-and-play QB1 in a fantasy-friendly Week 17 matchup.
