RotoBallers, welcome back to our daily fantasy hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings. Below you will find our NHL cheat sheet - DFS lineup picks, sleepers and stacks for Saturday, April 1 of the 2016/2017 NHL season.

This Saturday makes the second last of the regular season and with a ton of playoff positions still up for grabs, it is going to be another exciting night. The biggest matchup of the day comes to us from Edmonton, Alberta where the Oilers are not stopping with a playoff birth. They will face off against the Ducks who the trail by just one point in the Pacific Division.

Looking at the matchup chart, we have just one team(NJ) playing a back to back and exactly zero teams playing a thrid game in four nights. Let's jump in and take a look at some of the top value plays at each position.

NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Saturday, April 1

For those that are new to this, each day we'll be providing you with a few of our top DFS lineup picks for daily league cash games on FanDuel and DraftKings. Henrik Zetterberg (C, DET)

DraftKings - $5,600, FanDuel - $6,100

The Red Wings don't have much in terms of motivation but for daily fantasy, Zetterberg presents a value spot for a player that has seen a dropping salary down the stretch. He hasn't even been playing badly with points in four of his last five and seven of his last nine games. He doesn't provide much of a floor averaging just over two shots per game but has already picked up five points in three games vs. the Leafs this season.

Kyle Palmieri (W, NJ)

DraftKings - $5,500, FanDuel - $5,800

The matchup isn't great as the Devils are have nothing to play for while the Flyers need to pretty much win out. That doesn't mean we can't find a golden nugget in the middle of the manure pile. Kyle Palmieri makes an excellent GPP play tonight with projected low ownership and looking at the numbers, he has been much better on the road this season with 32 points in 37 games. He has also tallied four points in three games vs. the Flyers this season.

Justin Faulk (D, CAR)

DraftKings - $5,400, FanDuel - $5,000

He is closing the year out strong and in the low $5K range on both sites, makes a great play in all formats. He has tallied five points in his last five games and also provided a high floor with 21 shots on goal. Even better news is that he will be at home tonight vs. the Stars and their 28th ranked defense.

Stacking Option

Carolina Hurricanes - Jeff Skinner, Derek Ryan, Lee Stempniak

The Hurricanes not only come at a value stacking price but they also get an elite matchup vs. the Stars who have been eliminated and own the league's 29th ranked defense. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, sit just four points back of the final wildcard and need all the offense they can get. Skinner has been red hot with 12 points over his last 10 games with 37 shots while Stempniak and Ryan have bot chipped in at value prices.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes

For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.

For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
