RotoBallers, welcome back to our daily fantasy hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and FantasyAces. Below you will find our NHL cheat sheet - DFS lineup picks, sleepers and stacks for Tuesday, October 20th of the 2016/2017 NHL season.

Tonight we have another big slat with 11 games kicking off at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the only team playing back to back games and will be on the road in Minnesota to face the Wild. Let's take a look at a  top play at each position for tonight's action on the ice.

NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Tuesday, October 20th 

Anze Kopitar (C, LAK)

DraftKings - $6,200, FanDuel - $7,400, FantasyAces - $5,650

Despite the Kings struggling to start the season, Anze Kopitar has been consistent with a point in each of their first three games. He is coming off an impressive 74 point season and will need to be the driving force if the Kings are to turn things around before they get out of control. He is always a great option in cash games with the shot attempts and his discount from the top options, especially on DraftKings. If you are using him in GPP's stack with Dwight King and Tyler Toffoli.

Vladimir Tarasenko (W, STL)

DraftKings - $7,400, FanDuel - $8,000, FantasyAces - $5,850

He comes in cheaper than Alex Ovechkin and Jamie Benn on all three sites and has a considerably better matchup vs. the Oilers who have allowed 15 goals in their first four games. Tarasenko has been on fire to start the season with four goals and two assists in the Blues first four games. He is also averaging over four shots on goal and a block per game. He is safe in all formats.

 Kris Russell (D, EDM)

DraftKings - $4,200, FanDuel - $3,500, FantasyAces - $4,600

He is coming off a game where he recorded eight blocked shots for the Oilers and now has 14 on the season. He is playing over 20 minutes of ice time per game on the top D unit and has also provided three points after recording just 19 all of last season. His price and high floor are hard to ignore on any site, especially if you are paying up for goalie and one or two top forwards.

Stacking Option

Carolina Hurricanes - Victor Rask, Jeff Skinner, Lee Stempniak

The Hurricanes isn't a team that stands out on a nightly basis making them a perfect stacking option for tournaments. Their top line of Stempniak, Skinner and Rask has been hot to start the year with four goals in the Canes first three games. They also get a great matchup vs. the Flames who have struggled defensively to start the year allowing  16 goals in their first four games. The price is very affordable making them very easy to stack with another top line like Washington or Dallas's top units.

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes

For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.

For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
