Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Monday 8/16

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/16/21. Frank Ammirante identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to the another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs.

Each day RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from Yahoo! leagues.

Today we have a 10-game slate, giving us a deeper pool of streamers.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/16 - Shallow Leagues

Rafael Ortega (OF, LHB, CHC) 51% Rostered

Matchup: at CIN LHP Wade Miley

Ortega is slashing .404/.462/.638 with eight runs, three homers, eight RBI, and three steals in 52 plate appearances since August 1st. He's put up a .468 wOBA, which ranks 9th in MLB during this span. Ortega has been hitting in the leadoff spot for the Cubs, so he's in a great position for run-scoring. While it's a lefty-lefty matchup against Miley, we have to ride with Ortega while he's swinging such a hot bat.

Anthony Santander (OF, RHB, BAL) 44% Rostered

Matchup: at TB RHP Collin McHugh

Santander is rolling in August, posting a .378/.417/.689 slash with six runs, four homers, seven RBI, and one steal in 48 plate appearances. His .466 wOBA in August ranks 10th in MLB. We all know about Santander's power surges and it looks like he's currently on one, so you need to hop on this freight train. McHugh is the opener for today's matchup, so Santander will have a chance to do some damage against the Rays bullpen.

Lewis Brinson (OF, RHB, MIA) 43% Rostered

Matchup: vs. ATL RHP Touki Toussaint

What has gotten into Lewis Brinson? The former jewel of the Christian Yelich trade has been mashing in August, slashing .365/.411/.692 with 13 runs, four homers, and 17 RBI in 56 plate appearances. This brings his season-long totals to .282/.320/.507 in 51 games. Brinson is an example of why you should always maintain some semblance of faith in a player who had elite prospect pedigree, you just never know when they might figure it out.

Hitter Streamers for 8/16 - Deeper Leagues

Luis Arraez (2B/3B/OF, LHB, MIN) 20% Rostered

Matchup: vs. CLE RHP Cal Quantrill

Arraez is slashing .385/.455/.538 with four runs, one homer, and five RBI in 44 plate appearances in August. His .430 wOBA is tied for 19th during this stretch. This hot streak has bumped Arraez to the fourth or fifth spot for the Twins, which puts him in a prime position for run production. While it's a tough matchup against Quantrill, we have to ride Arraez here. He'll help out your team in batting average due to his elite contact skills.

Frank Schwindel (1B/OF, RHB, CHC) - 9% Rostered

Matchup: at CIN LHP Wade Miley

Schwindel has torn the cover off the ball of late, slashing .378/.417/.756 with seven runs, four homers, and 13 RBI in 48 plate appearances since August 1st. He's put up a .488 wOBA during this stretch, which ranks third in MLB. Schwindel has also punished lefties with a .360/.407/.880 slash this season. He's been a fixture in the two or cleanup spot for the Cubs, making him one of the best streamers on today's slate.

Brett Gardner (OF, LHB, NYY) 2% Rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA LHP Jose Suarez

If you're in a deep league, why not take a chance on veteran Gardner today? He's slashing .316/.435/.474 with seven runs, one homer, and five RBI in 46 plate appearances this month. Gardner has put up a .398 wOBA during this stretch, which is tied for 37th in MLB. His hot hitting has earned him a bump in the order, as he's hit in the two-spot in four consecutive games. Suarez isn't a matchup to fear, so let's keep it rolling with Gardner.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/16 - Shallow Leagues

Touki Toussaint (RHP, ATL) - 35% Rostered

Matchup: at MIA

Toussaint has been rock solid in four of five starts since being recalled to the big leagues. If we remove his seven-run outing against the Brewers, he's gone at least five innings with two runs or fewer in his other four starts. Toussaint has also shown his strikeout ceiling with a 10-strikeout performance against the Phillies. He has a plus matchup against the Marlins, who have one of the worst lineups in baseball, especially since trading Starling Marte.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/16 - Deep Leagues

Carlos Hernandez (RHP, KC) - 15% Rostered

Matchup: vs. HOU

Hernandez just keeps on rolling, no matter the matchup, coming off another strong outing against the Yankees where he went 6.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts. He's now allowed one run or fewer in three consecutive starts. I know it's a tough matchup against the Astros, but Hernandez has pitched against the Yankees and White Sox twice during this hot streak. Keep riding the wave here.
