Daily Fantasy Baseball Injury News and Lineup Updates for DraftKings and FanDuel - 4/14/16

A look at the DFS landscape for Thursday finds Mat Latos taking on the Twins at Target Field. Minnesota has far too many strikeouts in its starting lineup, making Latos a nice low-cost option to try to rack up points.

We can also target Matt Cain against the Rockies. Cain was decent in his season debut, but remains a fly ball pitcher with a below average strikeout rate. This could lead to bad things at Coors Field.

In this article, we’ll be providing you with critical lineup updates and injury news for MLB games on 4/14/16. We’ll try to update this article up until games so you have the latest information to set your daily fantasy baseball lineups on FanDuel and DraftKings.

MLB Injury Updates for 4/14/16

Devin Mesoraco did not play Wednesday due to tightness in his leg. Tucker Barnhart could see another start if he is not ready to get back on the field. Ivan De Jesus could also start again if Zack Cozart has not recovered from a bout of tightness in his quadriceps.

James McCann was placed on the disabled list with an ankle sprain Tuesday. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is expected to get the majority of starts in his absence, with Bobby Wilson filling in when he needs to rest.

Darin Ruf has missed the last two games after jamming his shoulder while attempting to make a catch Monday. He is reportedly feeling better after receiving a cortisone shot, and is considered day-to-day. The Phillies don’t appear to have a platoon option in Ruf’s absence, so look for Ryan Howard to start against lefty Drew Pomeranz if he remains sidelined.

Buster Posey seems likely to miss his third consecutive game against the Rockies because of a bruised foot, as he reportedly still felt sore while running Wednesday. Trevor Brown has put on a show in two games with Posey sidelined, but notched just a .316 slugging percentage over four minor league seasons. UPDATE: Buster Posey is Starting. Trevor Brown will head back to the bench.

Stephen Strasburg was scratched from his start against the Braves Wednesday because of the flu, but manager Dusty Baker hopes he will be able to start Thursday. Yusmeiro Petit could potentially take the ball if Strasburg is ruled out. UPDATE: Strasburg will make the start.

Brian McCann sat out of Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays because of a foot injury, but hopes to be able to play Thursday. Austin Romine will likely continue to start if McCann needs to miss more time.

Adam Jones is expected to return Thursday against the Rangers after taking batting practice Wednesday. Jones has been sidelined for the last six games due to soreness in his ribs.

Jonathan Villar did not play Wednesday against the Cardinals after tweaking his ankle Monday. Yadiel Rivera could see time at shortstop for as long as Villar is sidelined.

UPDATE: Justin Turner will not play after being hit by two pitches Wednesday. Howie Kendrick will slide over to third base, while Austin Barnes mans second. Chase Utley sits against lefty Robbie Ray.

MLB Lineup Updates for 4/14/16

Colin Cowgill will return to a reserve role after sliding in against left-hander Drew Smyly. Jose Ramirez, who is hitting .313 in 16 plate appearances this season, could enter the starting lineup in his stead.

Matt Wieters will likely return to the lineup against lefty Cole Hamels after being given a day off in favor of Caleb Joseph.

David Peralta and Socrates Brito should return after resting against lefty Alex Wood on Wednesday, meaning Chris Owings and Brandon Drury will likely be out of the lineup.

Blake Swihart may find his way back to the starting nine after being spelled by Ryan Hanigan on Wednesday. Hanigan will catch once every five days as the personal backstop of Joe Kelly.

Look for Brett Gardner to occupy his usual spot in left field in place of Aaron Hicks, who was part of a righty lineup against J.A. Happ. Gardner has notched just three hits in 17 at-bats against right-handers to begin the year. Didi Gregorius should also draw back in over Ronnie Torreyes.

UPDATE: Yan Gomes will rest against the Rays. Roberto Perez will start in his absence.

UPDATE: Chris Carter is out against the Cardinals. Jonathan Lucroy slides over to first, while Martin Maldonado enters the starting lineup at catcher.

UPDATE: Charlie Blackmon will not play because of turf toe. Nick Hundley will attempt to play after taking a foul ball off the mask Wednesday.

Weather Updates for 4/14/16

There isn’t a hint of bad weather to affect our games Thursday, which means April is being far more kind than usual.
