BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 39% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: While he's largely played behind D'Onta Foreman since Christian McCaffrey's midseason departure from Carolina, Chuba Hubbard's role in the Panthers' offense has continued to evolve in recent weeks.
Hubbard has toted the rock 35 times across Carolina's last three, accumulating 149 rushing yards with a TD. He's also reeled in six catches on six targets for 82 receiving yards in that time.
The second-year pro led the Panthers backfield in snaps in a Week 15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Trailing for most of the game, Hubbard was the preferred pass-catching back for the Panthers and ran routes on 57% of Sam Darnold's dropbacks.
While Hubbard's increased role over the last month is certainly encouraging, his fantasy upside is undoubtedly capped by D'Onta Foreman's continued presence in the Carolina backfield. Foreman has continued to garner a large portion of the Panthers' early-down work, as well as the team's goal-line carries.
Hubbard now draws a tough Week 16 matchup against a Detroit Lions team that's playing well and possesses a run defense that's been trending in the right direction as of late. Desperate fantasy managers in deeper PPR leagues can give Hubbard a look as a dart-throw FLEX option due to his consistent presence in the Carolina passing attack.
