Ben Roethlisberger left last week’s match-up with the Seattle Seahawks late in the fourth quarter due to blurred vision and concussion-like symptoms. Historically, Big Ben is known to be a tough player so when he comes out of a very close game there should be some concern involved. Conflicting news came out in the beginning of this week regarding how bad his symptoms were and if he would play this coming week.
Yesterday, Ben took part in full practice thus putting the speculation to rest. Big Ben owners breathed a sigh of relief because he continues to put up huge numbers despite playing against solid defenses. Last week against Seattle, he threw for 456 yards and one touchdown. The two weeks before that he threw for a combined 713 yards and five touchdowns. The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Indianapolis Colts at home in Week 13. Expect Big Ben to continue to tear it up and toss him right into the QB1 slot.
With Big Ben taking the reins it will most certainly open up the ground game for running back DeAngelo Williams more than if Landry Jones were to start. Consider last week’s eight-carry outing a fluke because Pittsburgh’s game plan was heavily geared to cut into the weak spot of the Seattle’s defense by throwing the football. DeAngelo did firmly benefit from the pass attack last week as he caught seven balls for 88 yards. Look for Williams to get plenty of running and passing touches this time around as he should thrive in a RB1 slot against a mediocre Colts run defense.
Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant found himself on the injury report today as he did not practice due to a hip injury. This surprising news does come with some concern , but most likely he is just resting up a sore body part in order to be ready for this Sunday’s contest. Bryant caught five passes for 69 yards last week, but showed his versatility by taking an end around hand off into the end zone for a rushing touchdown. Bryant continues to be a large focal point of the Steelers offense, and if he ends up playing this weekend should be put into a WR2 slot.
