The first elimination race of the Playoffs has arrived and it is a full blow wild card as the drivers and teams will visit the brand new Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. It is a 2.28-mile hybrid that is part road course and part old oval. It is unlike anything we have seen in the past and if testing, practice, and qualifying is any sign there will be some carnage along way in finding the inaugural winner. Buckle up!
For fantasy, we have zero track history to go off so I will be looking closely at road course performance and then concentrating on practices speeds and qualifying to identify top targets and place differential values. Let's dig in and take a look at some of the top drivers following final practice on Saturday.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Lineup Picks - Bank of America Roval 400
Kyle Busch(DK-$11,400 FD-$14,500)
If paying up for one of the "Big 3" this week, Kyle Busch is at the top of the list as he has been extremely consistent on road courses with eight straight finishes of 7th or better including his fourth career win on the track type. He was also one of the 13 drivers to test here back July and he posted the third-fastest and fastest speeds in the two sessions. He will start 14th this week giving us some place differential upside making him a great play in all formats.
Brad Keselowski(DK-$9,800 FD-$13,200)
From the winner of the second race of the playoffs to the winner of the first. While Keselowski hasn't been as good on road courses with three straight finishes outside of the Top 10, he will start 25th this week providing elite place differential upside especially considering he posted the 4th fastest speed in practice two and fastest speed in the final practice.
Kurt Busch(DK-$9,000 FD-$11,200)
Sticking in the upper tier, I absolutely love Kurt Busch this week. Like brother Kyle, he has been very consistent on road courses finishing 11th or better in nine straight with 10 Top 10's and three Top 5's. He will have an opportunity to get out front and lead some laps this week starting from the pole position and while he struggled in practice two(23rd), he posted the 6th fastest speed in final practice. He is a great play in all formats.
Daniel Hemric(DK-$5,600 FD-$4,000)
Richard Childress brought back the #8 this week and will put Daniel Hemric behind the wheel. The first thing that stands out is the price, especially on FanDuel where he comes at the minimum price. He is also one of the few drivers that will be running double duty this week which will help give him a leg up on the competition. The risk comes that he qualified 11th but showed speed as well posting the 4th fastest speed in opening practice and 2nd fastest speed in the second practice. He did slip a bit in final practice(22nd) but a Top 15 finish should be ore than enough exceed value at these prices.
