Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Mark Melancon (forearm) has been activated from the disabled list prior to Friday’s game. Kyle Schwarber Absent Friday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber is absent from Friday’s lineup versus the New York Mets. Schwarber usually gets most of his starts versus right-handed pitching, but he will be on the bench Friday. Jason Heyward, who is swinging a hot bat, will replace Schwarber and bat second. Heyward is worth consideration in daily leagues, as […]

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will rest Friday evening versus the Mets. It’s just a maintenance day for Contreras, who will be replaced by Chris Gimenez. Gimenez will bat in the No. 8 spot Friday and can be avoided in all formats.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (finger) went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two hits on one run in his final rehab game Thursday. Russell should be back in the lineup Friday.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with tightness in his right shoulder. Samardzija is expected to miss at least one start. The Giants have promoted pitching prospect Tyler Beede to take Samardzija’s spot on the roster. Beede will operate out of […]

Hunter Pence Could Return Friday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence (thumb) is expected to be activated Friday from the disabled list. Pence has changed his swing during his rehab assignment and has been hitting well in Triple-A. Pence isn’t returning to an everyday role and should only be considered in NL-only leagues. Before his injury he was hitting an […]

Joe Panik Could Return Friday

San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) could return from the disabled list Friday, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Panik has been out since April 28 with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Panik should return to everyday duties at the keystone, which is bad news for middle infielder Kelby Tomlinson. Panik was […]

Pablo Sandoval Will Start At Second Base Wednesday

San Francisco Giants corner infielder Pablo Sandoval will get his second career start at second base Wednesday. Sandoval will start in place of Kelby Tomlinson, who made three errors Tuesday and has also struggled with his bat. Second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) will begin his rehab assignment Wednesday, meaning Sandoval may not be making many […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Placed On Disabled List

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Edwards has been one of the better relief pitchers in the game for fantasy owners due to his 14.40 K/9. There is currently no timetable for his return, and Pedro Strop is the likely candidate to […]

Reynaldo Lopez Gets Lit Up Wednesday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez gave up seven runs on eight hits while allowing one walk over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday versus the Cleveland Indians. He also recorded one strikeout. It was the most runs Lopez has given up in 2018 and it raised his ERA to 3.80. Lopez does have seven quality […]

Joe Panik, Alen Hanson Will Begin Rehab Assignments

San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) and infielder Alen Hanson (hamstring) will begin their rehab assignments for Class-A San Jose on Wednesday. Ian Happ Absent Wednesday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ will have Wednesday evening off versus the Pirates. MRI Shows No Structural Damage For Yu Darvish

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) got his MRI results on Wednesday and it was revealed that there was no structural damage and he is dealing with right triceps inflammation. Tim Anderson Swipes Another Base

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson picked up stolen base No. 12 on Tuesday evening versus the Indians. Anderson is starting to heat up again and is tied for the White Sox team lead with 11 home runs. Anderson remains a strong threat to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases. He should be […]

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Continues To Rake On Monday

Toronto Blue Jays third base prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued to make Double-A pitching look silly Monday. Guerrero went 2-for-4 Monday with a run and RBI.
