Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Brandon Belt Went To Hospital Friday

After exiting Friday’s game in the second inning, San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt was rushed to the hospital to be evaluated for appendicitis. If Belt were to require emergency surgery then he would have to be placed on the disabled list and likely miss at least two weeks. Belt is off to the […]

Brandon Belt Exits Early With Stomach Illness Friday

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt exited Friday’s game early with a stomach illness. Belt finished the game 0-for-1 and was replaced by Pablo Sandoval. Belt should be considered day-to-day. If Belt is unable to play on Saturday, Sandoval would likely start in his place.

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Mark Melancon (forearm) has been activated from the disabled list prior to Friday’s game. San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) has been activated from the disabled list on Friday. Panik will return after being absent since April 28 with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Panik has hit .267 with three home runs and could be of use in NL-only leagues for owners looking for help with […]

Kyle Schwarber Absent Friday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber is absent from Friday’s lineup versus the New York Mets. Schwarber usually gets most of his starts versus right-handed pitching, but he will be on the bench Friday. Jason Heyward, who is swinging a hot bat, will replace Schwarber and bat second. Heyward is worth consideration in daily leagues, as […]

Chris Gimenez Starting At Catcher Friday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will rest Friday evening versus the Mets. It’s just a maintenance day for Contreras, who will be replaced by Chris Gimenez. Gimenez will bat in the No. 8 spot Friday and can be avoided in all formats.

Madison Bumgarner Pitches Well In Final Rehab Start

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (finger) went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two hits on one run in his final rehab game Thursday. Bumgarner threw 74 pitches in the contest and looks ready to help the Giants. Bumgarner is expected to make his season debut for the Giants on Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks. There […]

Addison Russell Out Of Thursday’s Series Opener

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is absent from Thursday’s lineup versus the Mets. Second baseman Javier Baez will slide over to shortstop with Ben Zobrist hitting first and playing second base. Russell has picked it up lately and is hitting .316 over his last 38 at-bats. Russell should be back in the lineup Friday.

Jeff Samardzija Placed On 10-Day Disabled List

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with tightness in his right shoulder. Samardzija is expected to miss at least one start. The Giants have promoted pitching prospect Tyler Beede to take Samardzija’s spot on the roster. Beede will operate out of […]

Mark Melancon Could Return Friday

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Mark Melancon (forearm) could be activated from the disabled list Friday. Melancon has thrown 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball during his rehab assignment. Manager Bruce Bochy had mentioned a few weeks ago that Hunter Strickland would remain the club’s closer and Melancon would be eased into high-leverage situations. Strickland […]

Hunter Pence Could Return Friday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence (thumb) is expected to be activated Friday from the disabled list. Pence has changed his swing during his rehab assignment and has been hitting well in Triple-A. Pence isn’t returning to an everyday role and should only be considered in NL-only leagues. Before his injury he was hitting an […]

Joe Panik Could Return Friday

San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) could return from the disabled list Friday, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Panik has been out since April 28 with a torn ligament in his left thumb. Panik should return to everyday duties at the keystone, which is bad news for middle infielder Kelby Tomlinson. Panik was […]

Pablo Sandoval Will Start At Second Base Wednesday

San Francisco Giants corner infielder Pablo Sandoval will get his second career start at second base Wednesday. Sandoval will start in place of Kelby Tomlinson, who made three errors Tuesday and has also struggled with his bat. Second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) will begin his rehab assignment Wednesday, meaning Sandoval may not be making many […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Placed On Disabled List

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Edwards has been one of the better relief pitchers in the game for fantasy owners due to his 14.40 K/9. There is currently no timetable for his return, and Pedro Strop is the likely candidate to […]

Reynaldo Lopez Gets Lit Up Wednesday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez gave up seven runs on eight hits while allowing one walk over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday versus the Cleveland Indians. He also recorded one strikeout. It was the most runs Lopez has given up in 2018 and it raised his ERA to 3.80. Lopez does have seven quality […]

Joe Panik, Alen Hanson Will Begin Rehab Assignments

San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik (thumb) and infielder Alen Hanson (hamstring) will begin their rehab assignments for Class-A San Jose on Wednesday. Ian Happ Absent Wednesday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ will have Wednesday evening off versus the Pirates. Happ has turned his season around in the month of May after a brutal April, which has led to him starting more games in the outfield. Jason Heyward will take over for Happ Wednesday and bat in the No. 8 spot. Heyward […]

MRI Shows No Structural Damage For Yu Darvish

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (triceps) got his MRI results on Wednesday and it was revealed that there was no structural damage and he is dealing with right triceps inflammation. Darvish is scheduled to begin throwing this weekend or early next week. Mike Montgomery will continue to replace Darvish in the rotation.

Dereck Rodriguez Expected To Be OK

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Dereck Rodriguez is expected to be OK after getting X-rays back negative on his right leg. He has zero fantasy value pitching in relief, […]

Jeff Samardzija Expected To Miss At Least One Start

After leaving Tuesday’s start after one inning, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) will get an MRI exam. Samardzija left with tightness in his right shoulder. Tim Anderson Swipes Another Base

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson picked up stolen base No. 12 on Tuesday evening versus the Indians. Anderson is starting to heat up again and is tied for the White Sox team lead with 11 home runs. Anderson remains a strong threat to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases. He should be […]

Jeff Samardzija Exits With Tight Right Shoulder Tuesday

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija exited Tuesday’s start after the first inning with a tight right shoulder. Ian Happ Is In Tuesday’s Lineup

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (shoulder) will return to the Cubs lineup Tuesday evening versus the Pirates. Happ bruised his shoulder on Saturday and pinch hit on Monday. Happ has had a strong May, and owners who were patient with him after a rough April are being rewarded.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Continues To Rake On Monday

Toronto Blue Jays third base prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued to make Double-A pitching look silly Monday. Guerrero went 2-for-4 Monday with a run and RBI.
