Assembling the Greatest Fantasy Football Teams Ever (2025 Edition)

rob gronkowski fantasy football rankings NFL DFS lineup picks

Aidin Ebrahimi attempts to assemble the greatest fantasy football teams ever made in this one-man mock draft where every single player in NFL history is available.

Now that we're done with the draft, we're officially in the "boring part" of the NFL offseason. We have to wait a bit for training camp and the preseason, and there's not much to do at this time of year if you're a football fan.

But we can try to fill the void by having some fun hypothetical discussions! Last year, our talented Dave Ventresca decided to do a hypothetical fantasy football All-Star draft. His draft included 12 teams and 12 rounds, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Today, I'll attempt to do the same thing, but with fewer teams (eight teams), rounds (10), and different player selections. I'll also throw in some gimmick teams to make it more fun! So, without further ado, here's my all-time fantasy football mock draft. From Joe Montana to Justin Jefferson, everyone is available!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Next up is the team-by-team recap, where you will find a list of the players each team drafted and at which pick, as well as a chart showing the positional composition of each team (how many players at each position they drafted).

Team No. 1 - The GOAT Farm

Player Pos. Team
1.01 LaDainian Tomlinson RB SD/NYJ
2.08 Jim Brown RB CLE
3.01 Travis Kelce TE KC
4.08 Tom Brady QB NE/TB
5.01 Julio Jones WR ATL/TEN/TB/PHI
6.08 Justin Jefferson WR MIN
7.01 Cooper Kupp WR LAR/SEA
8.08 Jimmy Graham TE NO/SEA/GB/CHI
9.01 Chris Johnson RB TEN/NYJ/ARI
10.08 Franco Harris RB PIT/SEA

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 1
TE 2
RB 4
WR 3

Overview and Strengths: This team is stacked with "GOATs." LaDainian Tomlinson, the GOAT fantasy football running back. Jim Brown, the GOAT of his era. Travis Kelce, who many people consider to be the GOAT tight end.

Justin Jefferson, who is on a GOAT-level trajectory, and Tom Brady, the GOAT of football. The GOAT Farm is a stacked team, and its RB room is so legendary that it can easily carry it to a fantasy title here.

Weaknesses: Julio Jones was never a touchdown machine, and Cooper Kupp's long injury history is a massive concern. Tom Brady is the GOAT, but he's not the best QB in fantasy football history, not even close.

Best Pick: Chris Johnson in the ninth round was a steal. Once LT began to slow down, CJ2K took the mantle from him as the league's most productive RB in the late 2000s.

Team No. 2 - Faithful to Fantasy

Player Pos. Team
1.02 Jerry Rice WR SF/OAK/SEA
2.07 Steve Young QB TB/SF
3.02 Terrell Owens WR SF/PHI/DAL/BUF/CIN
4.07 O.J. Simpson RB BUF/SF
5.02 Anquan Boldin WR ARZ/BAL/SF/DET
6.07 Brian Westbrook RB PHI/SF
7.02 Vernon Davis TE SF/DEN/WAS
8.07 Joe Montana QB SF/KC
9.02 George Kittle TE SF
10.07 Deebo Samuel Sr. WR SF/WAS

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 2
RB 2
WR 4

Overview and Strengths: Yes, every player on this team has played for the 49ers, even O.J. Simpson is here. Former teammates Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens will both rack up fantasy points in their peak forms.

Steve Young is also here, and he holds the record (alongside Aaron Rodgers) for the most seasons as a fantasy football overall QB1 (four seasons). He'll be the X factor of this team.

Weaknesses: To build an all-49ers team, Faithful to Fantasy had to make some questionable picks near the end. Deebo Samuel Sr. is a great fantasy player, but might not be able to stack up to other fantasy football legends.

Brian Westbrook was very underrated at his peak, but picking him while many legendary non-49ers were on the board was a reach.

Best Pick: It's always great when you weaken a rival. Omaha United -- a team that exclusively drafted players who played with the Mannings -- was dead set on taking Vernon Davis, who played with Peyton Manning on the 2015 Broncos. But when Faithful to Fantasy took him, it had no choice but to reach for Dallas Clark.

Team No. 3 - The Deceptions

Player Pos. Team
1.03 Emmitt Smith RB DAL/ARZ
2.06 Tony Gonzalez TE KC/ATL
3.03 Calvin Johnson WR DET
4.06 Josh Allen QB BUF
5.03 Kellen Winslow Sr. TE SD
6.06 Terrell Davis RB DEN
7.03 Davante Adams WR GB/LV/NYJ/LAR
8.06 Marshawn Lynch RB BUF/SEA/OAK
9.03 Sterling Sharpe WR GB
10.06 Jalen Hurts QB PHI

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 2
RB 3
WR 3

Overview and Strengths: The Autobots should fear Megatron and the Decepticons! Despite not making the running game a huge priority, the Decepticons still ended up with the NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith.

It also picked up Terrell Davis and Marshawn Lynch, two legendary backs with monstrous peaks. Three-time fantasy football overall QB1 Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts are two of the best fantasy QBs ever and are easily interchangeable.

Weaknesses: Sterling Sharpe is a cult hero among NFL stat nerds, but is he good enough to help Megatron and Davante Adams rack up points against better WR units? Terrell Davis and Kellen Winslow Sr. are Hall of Famers, but had very short peaks.

Best Pick: Marshawn Lynch was arguably the league's best RB in the first half of the 2010s, and picking him up in the eighth round was a steal. People forget how good he was before becoming a Seahawk, as he had a couple of great years with the Bills.

Team No. 4 - Ground and Pound

Player Pos. Team
1.04 Barry Sanders RB DET
2.05 Walter Payton RB CHI
3.04 Isaac Bruce WR STL/SF
4.05 Lamar Jackson QB BAL
5.04 Derrick Henry RB TEN/BAL
6.05 Mike Evans WR TB
7.04 Jason Witten TE DAL/LV
8.05 Tim Brown WR OAK/TB
9.04 Shaun Alexander RB SEA/WAS
10.05 Eddie George RB TEN/DAL

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 1
TE 1
RB 5
WR 3

Overview and Strengths: If you're an old-school football fan who believes in gritty, smashmouth football, then this is the team for you. Team Ground and Pound has Barry Sanders and Walter Payton, two of the best backs ever.

It also has Derrick Henry, the second-best RB in the world today, as well as two very underrated backs, Shaun Alexander and Eddie George. Not to mention Lamar Jackson, the best dual-threat QB in league history.

Weaknesses: Isaac Bruce, Mike Evans, and Tim Brown fit the team's theme of physicality and consistency, but they don't have the explosiveness of some of the other legendary WRs here.

TE Jason Witten falls into this category as well. Consistently great, but not enough to bank on him when the other stars are having bad games.

Best Pick: Picking up a two-time fantasy football overall QB1 in the fourth round was huge. He just needs to have a healthy season.

Team No. 5 - RBs Are for the WEAK 2.0

Player Pos. Team
1.05 Randy Moss WR MIN/OAK/NE/TEN/SF
2.04 Antonio Brown WR PIT/NE/TB
3.05 Antonio Gates TE SD
4.04 Rob Gronkowski TE NE/TB
5.05 Patrick Mahomes QB KC
6.04 Earl Campbell RB HOU/NO
7.05 Larry Fitzgerald WR ARI
8.04 Brandon Marshall WR DEN/MIA/CHI/NYJ/NYG/SEA
9.05 Larry Johnson RB KC/CIN/WAS/MIA
10.04 Dan Marino QB MIA

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 2
RB 2
WR 4

Overview and Strengths: If you're an old-school football fan who believes in gritty, smashmouth football, then this team is NOT for you! This team is a reference to Dave's aforementioned article last year, and it is LOADED with receiving talent.

Moss, AB, Gates, and Gronk are among the best to ever do it, and dependable stars like Larry Fitzgerald and Brandon Marshall join them. The early peaks of Mahomes and Marino are incredible, and they could easily carry this team to a title if one of them is in peak form.

Weaknesses: If Mahomes still has Matt Nagy as his play-caller on the Chiefs, this team will struggle big time. Current Mahomes is too conservative in the regular season to be a reliable QB1.

Marino also fell off after his first few years, from an absolute monster to just "very good." Earl Campbell and Larry Johnson are underrated, but are they enough to match the points tallies of the other legendary RB duos here?

Best Pick: Right after picking Antonio Gates, this team picked up Gronk to create a scary TE duo. The two best TEs of their generation with great QBs who always fed them (Tom Brady and Philip Rivers) on the same fantasy team.

Team No. 6 - Rodgers and Favre's Reunion

Player Pos. Team
1.06 Priest Holmes RB BAL/KC
2.03 Eric Dickerson RB LAR/IND/RAI/ATL
3.06 Aaron Rodgers QB GB/NYJ
4.03 Andre Johnson WR HOU/IND/TEN
5.06 Torry Holt WR STL/JAX
6.03 Shannon Sharpe TE DEN/BAL
7.06 Wes Welker WR MIA/NE/DEN/STL
8.03 Lance Alworth WR SD/DAL
9.06 Brett Favre QB ATL/GB/NYJ/MIN
10.03 Maurice Jones-Drew RB JAX/OAK

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 1
RB 3
WR 4

Overview and Strengths: Aaron Rodgers is the only QB who can claim he has as many overall QB1 finishes as Steve Young, which shows his fantasy dominance and longevity.

In weeks where he is playing a good defense and is a bit too concerned about protecting his efficiency (which he has done a fair few times throughout his career), you can bench him for his predecessor, Brett Favre, who will sling the ball around with no fear.

The receiving corps is amazing, and any of them can have huge games in weeks where the others might struggle.

Weaknesses: In weeks where Rodgers is hurt/conservative, Favre might throw a few backbreaking INTs, which could tank the team's score. With a career average of 1.11 picks per game (2.4 times more than Rodgers), you're almost bound to see him throw at least one pick if you start him.

Best Pick: We don't have Lance Alworth's exact target stats, but we can make an educated guess. Throughout his peak, his QB, John Hadl, only completed 50.5% of his throws.

Considering that Alworth, who had around 80 catches per 17 games, was his only real option back then, we can assume he had around 110-120 targets per 17-game season. Couple that with his incredible stats, and Alworth might just become the MVP of this team.

Team No. 7 - Omaha United

Player Pos. Team
1.07 Marshall Faulk RB IND/STL
2.02 Peyton Manning QB IND/DEN
3.07 Marvin Harrison Sr. WR IND
4.02 Reggie Wayne WR IND
5.07 Edgerrin James RB IND/ARI/SEA
6.02 Demaryius Thomas WR DEN/HOU/NYJ
7.07 Dallas Clark TE IND/TB/BAL
8.02 Tiki Barber RB NYG
9.07 Odell Beckham Jr. WR NYG/CLE/LAR/BAL/MIA
10.02 Eli Manning QB NYG

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 1
RB 3
WR 4

Overview and Strengths: After drafting Faulk, Peyton Manning, and Marvin Harrison Sr., this team decided to exclusively go after players who played with Peyton Manning. And if you didn't know, Marshall Faulk played with Peyton in the QB's rookie year.

Despite failing to draft its guy, Vernon Davis, it still has some underrated studs like Demaryius Thomas. This team is loaded with WR talent, while Faulk and Edgerrin James are a deadly RB duo.

Weaknesses: After Wes Welker was snagged up, this team ran out of reliable former Peyton teammates to draft. The remaining options were too weak to get the job done in this league.

So, it had to change its approach and draft Tiki Barber and Odell Beckham Jr. Great picks, but they never played with Peyton, and Omaha United had to find a way to justify them.

So, instead of picking another skill player or even a good backup QB with its final pick, it drafted Eli Manning to justify the Tiki and OBJ selections, changing its team's gimmick to players who played with either Peyton or Eli.

Despite being a two-time Super Bowl winner, Eli was never anything close to a fantasy superstar. A wasted pick for sure, but this team is good enough to justify it. Dallas Clark is the weak link among the starters.

Best Pick: Edgerrin James was an absolute monster for many years and was also a capable receiving back. Shout-out to Tiki Barber as well. He might have "forced" it to draft Eli, but he's worth it.

Team No. 8 - Breezy

Player Pos. Team
1.08 Christian McCaffrey RB CAR/SF
2.01 Adrian Peterson WR MIN/NO/ARI/WAS/DET/TEN/SEA
3.08 Tyreek Hill WR KC/MIA
4.01 Cris Carter WR PHI/MIN/MIA
5.08 Drew Brees QB SD/NO
6.01 Saquon Barkley RB NYG/PHI
7.08 Michael Vick QB ATL/PHI/NYJ/PIT
8.01 Mike Ditka TE CHI/PHI/DAL
9.08 Steve Smith Sr. WR CAR/BAL
10.01 Ozzie Newsome TE CLE

Team Composition

Composition By Position
Position Amount
QB 2
TE 2
RB 3
WR 3

Overview and Strengths: Team Breezy had the final pick in each odd round. Despite this massive disadvantage, it still picked up some studs. The 2001 QB duo of Drew Brees and Michael Vick is elite in fantasy.

Brees is the stable option, while Vick can rush for tons of yards in weeks where Brees is playing against a strong defense. If Christian McCaffrey or Adrian Peterson gets hurt, Saquon Barkley can easily fill the void. The WR room is elite, too.

Weaknesses: The TE room is a bit too "old-school" for my liking. While Barkley can fill in for one of the RBs, what happens if both of them get hurt? Or what if Barkley gets hurt? That's certainly a possibility, considering how injury-prone these three RBs are and how much their teams use/used them.

Best Pick: If he stays healthy, Barkley can be the best pick in this entire league. He's the best football player in the world right now, and it won't matter if he's playing on the Giants or Eagles, he'll get plenty of touches.

Awards and Conclusion

Best Overall Draft Pick: Team Ground and Pound needed a quarterback who matched its identity, and Lamar Jackson is perfect for that. Picking up a fantasy football cheat code at 4.05 is amazing work.

Best Overall Team: Yes, it failed to pick up Vernon Davis, and yes, it was "forced" to draft Eli Manning. But Omaha United is still ridiculously stacked and consistent. It just goes to show the offensive weapons both Mannings had throughout their careers.

This was one of the most time-consuming articles I've ever done, but it was worth it due to how fun it was. It was incredible to take a trip down memory lane and draft the legends of the NFL, and even a bunch of players who were playing before I was even born!

I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions, so feel free to reach out to me or the RotoBaller NFL page on X. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
