BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Alec Pierce was able to break out last season for the Cincinnati Bearcats in fantastic stride with Desmond Ridder's phenomenal final college season, going for 884 yards receiving and eight touchdowns on 52 receptions over 14 games; not to mention his three-year mark of 17.5 yards per reception (106 catches/1,851 yards/13 TDs in 32 games from 2019-21). He was taken 53rd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts who boast a force of nature at running back, a well-aged "Matty Ice" at quarterback, and a true grab-bag of options at the skill positions. Pierce began carving his role immediately. Not counting his inactive week two, he has seen a combined 108 offensive snaps in three games, making two starts thus far.
While he isn't even top-five for Indy in targets (13) or receptions (seven) and has yet to find the end zone, he is already third on the team in receiving yards (141) and top of the chart in yards per reception (20.1). He's catching up to his teammates in workload too. After just two targets and zero catches in week one, Pierce netted seven grabs and 141 yards on 11 targets combined over the last two games, and out-routed Michael Pittman Jr. last week against the Titans. As a bona fide deep-threat for a team with better choices to target among TE and RB than in the WR core, Alec Pierce is quickly earning Matt Ryan's confidence and strong consideration from those in moderate-size PPR formats.
