BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3
ANALYSIS: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen was a popular sleeper candidate during the offseason. While many expected the Panthers passing attack to struggle, Bryce Young had one weapon he could consistently count on – Thielen. Anyone who drafted the wide receiver in the later rounds or added him off the waiver wire after Week 1 came away with a league-winning addition.
The former undrafted free agent wide receiver is the WR19 for the year, averaging 11.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. After starting the season on fire, Thielen has cooled off lately. Last week, he had a solid performance against the Green Bay Packers, totaling 12.4 fantasy points and an impressive one-handed catch.
Following last week’s performance, fantasy players should feel confident starting Thielen as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3/flex option in Week 17. The veteran has earned at least seven targets in three consecutive matchups. More importantly, he has an appealing matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They have surrendered 30.4 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the eighth-most in the NFL. Last week, Mike Evans had 86 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 24.1 fantasy points in a massive win over the AFC South division leaders.
