ANALYSIS: Quite a ridiculous development this one involving Ricky Seals-Jones and his current league-winning upside, but here we are folks. Logan Thomas got banged up back in Week 4 and has not played a single game since. Ricky, Washington's TE2 till that week with a measly 14% snap share prior to W4, was forced into action because there were no more warm bodies around. And truth be told, we can't complain about his production.
It took a bit of time for Ricky to get things going as his putrid 3.9 PPR tally from Week 4 proves. Other than that game, in which RSS got 4 targets and caught 2 passes, Ricky has been a TE2 every other week and a TE1 player in the past couple of weekends. That's correct. He's finished three games as a top-14 tight end at the very least scoring 9.1, 15.8, and lately 11.1 PPR points. He's gotten 6+ targets in all three last games, has caught at least 4 passes in each of those, reached 41+ yards in all of them, and he even scored a touchdown (his second of the season after the one he caught in Week 2) back in Week 6.
The logical move by Washington would be to throw Thomas in the starting lineup once he's healthy and ready to play, moving RSS back to that dread TE2 role, but Ricky has done more than enough to merit more than that. He could have very well earned a starting role ROS with his three consecutive games of 40+ yards and 4+ receptions, so that's where the appeal of this WW addition is at. In fact, a quick look at RSS's 50%+ rostership in Yahoo leagues speaks for itself. Must add in deeper format with viability for those in a little bit shallower formats whether to bench-and-deploy in spot matchups or to stream here or there if you can find him available for free.
