Outfield Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 27

Brian Entrekin's fantasy baseball outfielders are potential waiver wire pickups for Week 27. Consider adding and streaming these free agent outfield options.

We have completed another week of MLB action, and we have made it to the final week of the season. What a year it has been. Tons of injuries, inconsistent play, surprise fantasy impact players, and much more. Hopefully, this column has helped find some hidden gems or even stop the bleeding along the way this season. We have one week left, so let's end with a bang. Many recent players like Austin Hays, Lane Thomas, and many more are still available on most waiver wires, so do not sleep on those players. This week, I am trying to highlight some players with favorable schedules, great matchups, and/or are playing some great ball as we reach the end of the season. Once again, good luck this final week, and thanks for giving this article a read throughout the season.

Some outfielders would be better suited to stream for a hot bat. Others need to be replaced just because they are no longer on the field (IL). Unfortunately, that is a situation that affects many managers. You can do nothing except finding a suitable replacement as quickly as possible or risk losing valuable counting stats. This week's article will focus on deeper league adds or even players to take fliers on as we head into the second half of the season. If you have questions about other players, always feel free to ask me on Twitter. This article will discuss waiver wire targets for the outfield in Week 27, September 27 through September 26.

In the first few weeks, rostered percentages can change quickly. So be quick to check your leagues for their availability. When you want to chat it up regarding outfielders, prospects, or dynasty leagues, message me directly on Twitter @bdentrekKey points - this list will focus on rostered players in less than 50% of Yahoo! leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Jesus Sanchez, Miami Marlins

20% Rostered

It has been quite a month of September for Sanchez. We all knew he was providing power for fantasy teams, but he has been hitting for average as well. Although he was heading into the weekend, he had hit safely in 12 of his final 16 games, good for a .274 average. The power was still there as he hit six home runs with a .355 ISO and .953 OPS. His contact quality has been excellent, with a 20% barrel rate and nearly 50% hard-hit rate over the last 16 games.

Sanchez heads into the final week of the season as the Marlins' cleanup hitter. He has been smashing in that role and should continue as we finish the season. This week the Marlins are one of a few teams with seven games on the schedule, even though two are a double-header. He faces four RHP and has some solid matchups outside of Ranger Suarez, Marcus Stroman, and Zack Wheeler. Regardless of matchups, he should play in six or seven games, giving your fantasy teams many chances to rack up some last-minute stats.

Hunter Dozier, Kansas City Royals

19% Rostered

We have been in and out on Dozier all season long. It has been quite the up and down season for Dozier production, let alone health. However, Dozier is strongly finishing the season and may just be sucking us back into our eyes for the 2022 draft season. Over his last ten games, he has been hitting .303 with four home runs. Dozier has a .424 ISO, which is insane to go with a 1.079 OPS. His 17% barrel rate and nearly 40% hard-hit rate support Dozier's success in September.

Dozier is hitting at the bottom of the Royals lineup, which is a bummer, but he's producing, and the Royals are one of a few teams that play seven games this week. He also gets juicy matchups, all at home, versus Cleveland and Minnesota. Additionally, Dozier is streaking right now, and the matchups to finish the system favor him greatly. Lastly, he brings multi-position eligibility that should up your interest in adding him this week, especially in daily leagues, as he can fill in all over your lineup for the final seven days.

Nick Gordon, Minnesota Twins

15% Rostered

Gordon has seen his playing time increase in September, and he has been delivering. Entering Saturday, Gordon was riding a six-game hitting streak. Over the six games, he is hitting .435 with four extra-base hits, including two home runs and stealing two bases. Gordon's .348 ISO, 238 wRC+, and 1.241 OPS are outstanding for the young infielder turned outfielder of the Twins.

The Twins play six games this week, with three against Detroit and three against Kansas City. Two solid matchups for Gordon. He also has multi-position eligibility, which helps move him around your fantasy rosters to fill in where needed. Gordon is one of the rare "low rostered" players providing production in all five ROTO categories. Gordon is a must-add in deeper leagues and may be worth a shot in 12-team leagues as well.

Harrison Bader, St. Louis Cardinals

10% Rostered

Bader, like the rest of the red-hot Cardinals, is mashing right now. He has hit safely in nine of his last 12 games entering Saturday, good for a .370 average. He is flexing his muscle with seven doubles and two home runs but surprisingly is not stealing bases. He has a .263 ISP to go with a 1.060 OPS as well.

Bader is healthy and playing every day, which has been an issue most of the season. He has been batting sixth or seventh of late and should continue that for the season's final week. The Cardinals have six games next week, three versus the Brewers and three juicy matchups versus the Cubs. The Cardinals need to keep winning to lock in the second wild-card spot, so the regulars should continue to play most of the week. Bader is a strong addition for the week and if you are digging deep, then give Lars Nootbaar a look.

Jose Siri, Houston Astros

7% Rostered

Siri does not play every day for the Astros but plays about 75% of them. When he does play, he hits. Since September 11, Siri has been hitting .314 with four home runs and two stolen bases. He has a .341 ISO, 174 wRC+, and 1.008 OPS. He crushes it with an 18.2% barrel rate and 41% hard-hit rate when he makes contact. Lately, Siri has been hitting all over the order but mainly near the top of the order, meaning more fantasy production.

The Astros have six games in the final week against the Rays and A's. There are some excellent matchups for the week, and most importantly, the Astros have the playoffs wrapped up, meaning the regulars may get some extra rest. This means Siri should play pretty much every day and likely hit near the top of the order. Siri is one of the better ads for the week.

Deeper League Adds

Here are a few players to the roster in deeper leagues- Sam Hilliard (COL, 3%), Brett Gardner (NYY, 2%), Yadiel Hernandez (WAS, 2%)
